Calvin Johnson and Brittney McNorton, a married couple of 10 years, are proud parents of three sons.

Johnson met his better half, Brittney McNorton while playing at Detriot. In nearly no time, their bond blossomed into a relationship.

The NFL star hadn’t pre-planned the proposal, but spontaneously, he decided it was the perfect time to propose to her.

Johnson was in Baltimore to attend the Ed Block Courage Awards, and it was there that he decided to ask McNorton to marry him.

McNorton, a Detroit Lions employee, told The Baltimore Sun that he popped the question to her while walking along Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.

Quickly, just a year after getting engaged, Johnson and McNorton walked down the aisle in March 2016.

When asked why he chose Baltimore by the Baltimore Sun, he casually replied

The situation was just right, just happened to be right, we were on vacation, so why not?

Likewise, Johnson cleared the air surrounding the curiosity about why Johnson didn’t marry until his retirement, saying:

It wasn’t the football that wouldn’t let him find the woman he wanted to grow old with, but it was because he felt the football wouldn’t give the woman he wanted to spend his life with the husband she deserved.

This speaks volumes about how much of a high-value man Johnson is. He has a deep self-awareness and believes that his demanding career would prevent him from being the kind of partner his ideal life companion deserves.

Johnson respects and yearns for a meaningful relationship, which his career wouldn’t make it possible to have one because of time constraints, emotional turmoil, and more.

Johnson and McNorton have three sons: Caleb, Calvin III, and Camden Johnson.
