Richard Allen Jefferson Sr., born on April 20, 1953, in the US Naval Hospital in Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, passed away on September 19, 2018, at the age of 65 in Compton, Los Angeles, California, United States.
Furthermore, Richard’s father, a resident of Inglewood, was fatally shot on September 19, 2018, in the 600 block of West Peach Street in Compton, according to reports.
He drove to the P&G Market in Compton and parked near the store, and then went to the market and then walked across Paulsen Street and started talking to a man on the sidewalk when a dark-colored sedan passed by heading south around 6:52 p.m.
According to the police report, a person in the car began shooting Jefferson Sr. multiple times, and he was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:02 p.m.
Investigators initially believed that the shooting was a result of gang conflict, with gang members mistakenly believing Jefferson Sr. and the others were members of a rival gang.
However, it later became clear that Jefferson Sr. and the others were not involved in gangs and had been targeted due to a misunderstanding. Neither Richard Jefferson Sr. nor the other men he was with were ever involved in gangs.
Despite the offer of a $20,000 reward, the case remains unsolved, and police are still seeking information from the public.
