Like father like son, the rising British boxer Campbell Hatton is the son of former world champion Ricky Hatton.

Ricky, one of the greatest boxers of all time, was invincible during his active years. In his career spanning 15 years, he fought 48 times with 45 wins.

Likewise, Campbell has already set his sights high with an impressive win in all his 11 fights.

Ricky Hatton is a former professional boxer born on October 6, 1978, in Stockport, England. He is popular for his successful career in the light-welterweight and welterweight divisions.

The accomplished boxer is still recognized for his aggressive fighting style, exceptional punching power, and a strong following of fans.

So far, Hatton has amassed a record of 43 wins; however, he experienced his first professional defeat to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in December 2007.

Discussing his career highlights, the 45 years old is a winner of multiple World titles, including the WBA (Super), IBF, IBO and The Ring Light Welterweight, and WBA Welterweight championships.

“The Hitman’s Army retired from boxing in 2009. After 3 years, he made a brief comeback in 2012 and officially ended his boxing journey after he could not secure a victory.

Campbell, aka Hurricane, was born on January 9, 2001, in Manchester, England, to parents Ricky Hatton and Claire Lord.  

The 22 years old grew up hearing the cheer of his dad’s name from Manchester to Vegas and back during a series of fights that really united a nation.

He witnessed the success and failure of his father, which led the Hatton family to face the risk of falling apart.

This is why Campbell decided to take his family legacy into his hands and make them proud of his achievement.

On March 27, 2021, Hatton stepped into a professional ring for the very first time, fully aware of the mix of triumph and disappointment it symbolizes.

During his debut on the undercard of Alexander Povetkin vs. Dillian Whyte II, he won against Spanish boxer Jesus Ruiz by a points decision (PTS).

Showcasing his skills, Campbell is already showing already walking on the path to success like his father. He is already aiming high, achieving impressive victories in all of his 13 fights.

Ricky Hatton Worries Over Son’s Mental Health

Campbell has big dreams but is quite worried about people expecting a lot from him because of his world-champion father.

Coming from a family of boxing stars, including his father Ricky and uncle Matthew Hatton, Campbell was often compared to legends in the boxing world.

The World Champion‘s story is all about winning despite facing tough challenges. Campbell always credits his dad for his success and has kept him his top priority.

Even though his father, Ricky Hatton, is proud of his achievements, he is equally worried for him.

As the legend has experienced a mental health struggle, he dealt with his losses and retirement.

He has always been open about taking cocaine and tried to kill himself while battling depression.

As he sees his son’s impressive wins in every game, the old man fears for his defeat. He hopes his child will not face the same struggle he went through. 

He said;

There’s a possibility Campbell could experience the same mental health problems as me. I have said to Campbell if there is anything on your mind, come to me. I nearly wasn’t here to enjoy the things that I am loving today.

At the moment, Ricky Hatton only hopes to help his son Campbell deal with the dark side of fame.
