His father makes a monthly salary of ten thousand Indian Currency. He, along with his nine-member family, resided in a tin house with two rooms as per sources. It was like a storage compound provided by the gas distribution company.

From a very young age, Rinku was not that dedicated to his studies. The cricketer clearly stated that he did not feel like studying.

However, his mother was after him soliciting him for studies. And his father used to scold him and restrict him from playing cricket. But it seems like God had planned something different for him.

Beginning Of A Dream And Struggle

Even though hockey is said to be India’s national sport, every house prefer cricket over hockey and worship this sport.

Even Rinku had the burning fire inside him for cricket from the very beginning.

Singh was just thirteen when he decided to go for cricket seriously. But this was not easy; looking at his family’s financial condition, he was asked to get a job rather than follow his passion.

Following that, Rinku did get a job of cleaning at coaching center and was asked to come to the office early in the morning and wipe the floor. But Rinku chose not to accept the job and kept grinding for his dream.

Rinku Singh | Playing Career

It was more than decade ago that Rinku started his playing career. He played a match for his school DPS under the DPS owner’s guidelines and won the man of the series. To top it off, he received a bike as a prize.

Nonetheless, this moment completely changed his parent’s perspective and made them see the scope of cricket.

Following that, Rinku was selected for UP’s under-16 team and later got entrance to the under-19 and under-23 teams. And very soon, his name made rounds as the aggressive batsman and hard-hitter.

At sixteen, he made his List A cricket debut for Uttar Pradesh in 2014 and scored 83 runs in the match.

Similarly, Rinku gave a notable performance in the 2016 and 2018 Ranji Trophy. He completed the tournament with 953 runs in ten matches and was the leading run-scorer for Uttar Pradesh in 2018.

Not only that, but he was one of those young Indian talents who signed a contract worth IC 10 lakhs with the Kings XI Punjab team for the 2017 Indian Premier League.

That’s yet another fact that he did not show up at any tournament for the Punjabs.

He was just bought for the team as a recognition of his talent, and his brilliance showed up in domestic team. Kolkata Knight Riders bought lucky Rinkuder in the 2018 IPL auction for 80 lakhs/ $96.8k.

Quite an interesting fact, he grabbed a price four times higher than the previous one. This was possible only after he scored 91 off 31 balls and was noticed by the IPL franchise, Mumbai Indians.

To boot on, now he was a part of a team owned by none other than the king of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan.

KKR acquired Rinku consistently for past 4 years at a constant price of IC 80 lakhs/$96.8k.

However, in 2022 IPL auction, he was again picked by the Knight Riders but at a much lower price. He was acquired for IC 55 lakhs/$66.7k which is IC 25 lakhs/$30.3k less than last year’s auction price.

Keeping his relationship talks aside, Rinku has made, not many but, few good friends. Among them, Nitish Rana, Kuldeep, and Apurva are the ones from the KKR team itself.

Moreover, he also gets along well with the foreign athlete Andre Russell, an aggressive batman in the team KKR. They are the buddies who party together sometimes.

When asked about Andre, he says, “I do not talk much as I cannot speak much English, but yes, on his birthday, we chilled out and danced together in our room. The bonding just got stronger by then.”

He also added that Russell is the world’s best all-rounder at the moment.

Furthermore, he is also a part of KKR Academy, where he receives some kind of tutorials from Abhishek Nayar.

Nonetheless, Rinku enjoys being trained by him as he teaches the technique and tries to bring in the fun element in practice, whether by dancing or doing art. The training has also helped with the red ball cricket.

Additionally, Rinku is someone who hits the gym frequently. He knows and understands the value of health and fitness to remain consistent with speed.
