Zane Wolters, a student from Riverdale Ridge High School who was actively involved in both football and wrestling, passed away in a car accident on March 3rd.
His untimely death has left the community in mourning, and our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all those who knew him during this challenging time.
A member of the Class of 2027, Zane played Defensive End (DE) and Middle Linebacker (MLB) for the school’s football team.
Similarly, Zane competed in the 132-138 lb weight class in wrestling, and throughout the 2024-2025 season, he had a mix of wins and losses.

Melissa Cates shared her heartbreak after receiving a call from her son, Kealen, who was struggling to catch his breath as he informed her of the tragic loss of his friend, Zane.
Zane had passed away in a car accident on March 3rd. Melissa expressed her deep sorrow for the Riverdale Ridge community, her son, everyone who knew Zane, and especially Zane’s family.
She asked for thoughts and prayers for all those affected by this unimaginable loss, remembering Zane with love and wishing him to “fly high.”
My heart hurts so much today…. Getting a call from your child that can’t even catch their breath is never a call that you want to get. But hearing the news on the other side of the phone is even more heartbreaking. While walking into my infusion this morning Kealen called to tell me that one of his friends passed away last night in a tragic car accident.
