ProRodeo Hall of Famer Roy “Super Looper” Cooper’s wife, Shari Smith Cooper, owns All Around Realty.
American professional rodeo cowboy Roy Dale Cooper, born on November 13, 1955, died in a Texas house fire on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 69.
Local authorities responded to a call about the fire around 7 p.m. local time, and Cooper’s body was found inside about 30 minutes later.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing.
Professional Barrel Racer Connie Combs took to her official Facebook handle and mourned the loss of Roy. She wrote,
Doing a Wrangler ad with Roy Cooper ! He always called me CC Rider! It was always a honor to be around him! Rest in peace Roy! That hat band on my hat was Roy’s! I told him I liked it so he gave it to me!

Joe Parsons remembered when he competed with Roy while living in New Mexico. He also took to his Facebook handle and wrote,
Roy Cooper greatest of all time. He revolutionized the sport and nearly every great that came after him was motivated and encouraged by Roy to be the best themselves. I competed against Roy from the time I was 8 years old living in New Mexico until 1989. He motivated me and I always admired him and loved to watch him rope. Rest in peace old friend.

He was also remembered in a tribute from the National Cowboy Museum, which remembered him as “a true game changer in tie-down roping, from his rookie year in 1976, when he won his first world title, and became the first cowboy to earn $2 million in ProRodeo history.
The museum added that Cooper will be honored with the Ty Murray Top Hand award at this year’s PBR Heroes & Legends event in July 2025.

Shari was born to her mother, Judy Jane Smith, and her father, Clifton Smith. She grew up with her sisters, Susy and Sealy Smith.
Her mother, Judy, was a proud member of the W’s, Women Who Want to be Women, a conservative women’s political organization that opposed the ERA and advocated for traditional family values.
She was also a longtime member of Tell Baptist Church, where she led the women’s Bible study group.
On January 14, 2024, Shari took to her official Instagram handle and wished her parents a happy 72nd marriage anniversary. She captioned,

Rodeo Roy Cooper had three sons, Clint, Clif, and Tuf Cooper, and one stepdaughter, Shada Brazile.
Roy’s youngest son, Tuf, is a four-time world champion cowboy who has qualified at NFR 16 times.
He is married to Tiffany Cooper, the creator of the Western fashion blog Fashion Posse. They have one daughter, Tru Fashion Cooper, who was born in September 2022.

Roy’s third son, Clint, is from Hobbs, New Mexico, and attended Loving High School. According to his Facebook handle, he served at PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association).
He is also mourning the tragic death of his father, Roy.
Roy’s step-daughter, Shada Brazile, is originally from Decatur, Texas, and graduated from Texas Tech University.
