The former linebacker Ronald Powell was one of the Florida Gators’ highest-rated recruits. He was the nation’s No.1 overall recruit, but sadly, he couldn’t translate the early success of his career later in life.
In his only season with the Saints, Powell played 14 games and had two tackles. He had brief stints with the Bucs, Bears, and Seahawks. Powell was only 32 at the time of his death.

But the former Gators player has shared several pictures with his kids. In an Instagram post in 2019, Powell shared a photo of a baby boy covered in his birthday cake.
From the post’s caption, it is clear that the kid in the pictures is Powell’s first son, Ronald NM Powell, born on December 12, 2018. He had previously shared an Instagram post celebrating his son’s five-month birthday.
Ronald wrote, “My heart & Soul & Him no Limits to His Ceilings and You Know it’s not a limitation that will stop Daddy from doing anything About You Daddy gonna Show how to Go ALL THE WAY I’ve thought I did B4, but You Gave Yo pops the Definition of ALL THE WAY.”
On March 23, 2020, Powell became a father for the second time, welcoming a baby girl into his growing family. He shared a snap of the little child sleeping peacefully and shared her name, Romy Mehaiah Powell.
Last year in June, Powell had shared a snap of his two kids gathered around the Christmas tree holding their gifts. The former football player had also shared a sweet photo of him and his kids sitting on a rock at the Joshua Tree National Park.
One of Powell’s pinned Instagram posts is of his kids. The photos were clicked during a kid’s birthday party, and the former Saints player has written a lengthy caption.
Powell wrote about loving one’s family and teaching kids to love themselves and appreciate their relations.
Ronald Powell Net Worth Before Death
Ronald Powell’s net worth before his death is estimated at $1 million. Powell never became a star in the NFL, and his career was cut short.
When he was drafted by the Saints in the fifth round in 2014, Powell had signed a four-year $2.3 million contract. The contract included a $168,680 signing bonus and an average annual salary of $597,215.
But that contract didn’t last long, as the Saints released Powell in 2015. The Chicago Bears signed Powell in 2016 but only to the practice squad.
In December 2016, the Seattle Seahawks signed Powell to their practice squad and later gave him a two-year $1.14 million contract. The deal made sure he earned an average annual salary of $570,000.
But in 2017, Powell was waived by the Seahawks and placed on injured reserve. He was released by the Seahawks a week later. Seahawks was the last team Powell played for in his NFL career.
In 2018, Powell signed for the AAF team, Orlando Apollos, but such was his fate that he couldn’t build his career even there. Powell had stayed out of the public limelight long before his demise.
