Julian Naumenko, a soccer prodigy at Rutgers University-Camden, lost his life at the young age of 19 on January 11, 2025, Saturday, in a tragic accident.

The Rutgers-Camden soccer star was the beloved son of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA priest, Very Rev. Fr. Taras Naumenko and Pani Matka Laura Naumenko.

He was born on November 21, 2005, in Hatboro, Pennsylvania.

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA announced the tragic demise of Julian Naumenko on their official site.

They wrote,

“On behalf of His Eminence Metropolitan Antony and His Eminence Archbishop Daniel, the Consistory of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA extends heartfelt condolences and prayerful support to the families of the newly departed servants of God, Julian Naumenko, beloved son of Very Rev. Fr. Taras Naumenko and Pani Matka Laura Naumenko, whose sudden passing has brought profound sorrow to his family, friends, and parish community.”

While there have been several speculations that Julian Naumenko lost his life in a tragic accident, the specific details about his demise are yet to be revealed.

Nonetheless, his friends and loved ones have shared their heartfelt condolences to Julian’s parents and family members.

Julian was known for his kind spirit, vibrant personality, and exceptional soccer skills.

The Naumenko family requests privacy as they mourn the tragic loss of their son; the family will soon announce details regarding funeral arrangements and services.

Julian Naumenko Honored His Heritage By Competing For The Ukrainian National Club!

Born to Ukrainian parents, Julian was a proud Ukrainian-American soccer player who honored his heritage by competing for the club team for ten seasons.

Julian began his soccer journey at a very young age, hailing from Hatboro, Pennsylvania; he was a soccer letterman at Archbishop Wood High School and graduated in 2024.

He was captain of Archbishop Wood High School for his final two seasons, earning All-Rookie team and two times All-PCL player titles.

Likewise, upon committing to Rutgers University-Camden to join the Scarlet Raptors’ soccer program for the 2024 season in January, his coach stated,

“Julian had the potential to build a remarkable career with us, continuing the legacy of remarkable goalkeepers we’ve seen over the years. He was athletic, had a considerable presence, and was known for his exceptional shot-stopping abilities and quality distribution.”

He was full of life; in his last Instagram post on January 4, 2025, he shared several pictures of his adventurous life with the caption, “Beautiful life, beautiful journey #2024.
