Carter Kosick, a resident of Salmon Arm, British Columbia, tragically passed away due to a fatal accident at 18.
The teen who was pursuing his bachelor’s degree at Thompson River University died as a result of a two-vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway near Craigellachie.
According to the initial reports, the collision happened on the highway at about 4:30 p.m. on February 15, 2025, and involved a pickup and a semi-truck.
Police said that there were four teenagers in the pickup; one person was declared dead at the scene, and the other three were taken to hospital.
One died in the hospital; the other two 18-year-olds are still recovering from their injuries.
School District 83 superintendent Donna Kriger later identified the two teens who died in the February 15 car accident as Carter Kosick and Carter Lawrence.
Carter Kosick passed away at the hospital after suffering from several injuries.
Prior to the death of Carter Kosick and Carter Lawrence, another teenager, 18-year-old Olly Willmot, also died after falling through the ice at Shuswap Lake on February 8, 2025.
The school’s superintendent, Donna Kriger, stated that February had been one of the most difficult months in the district’s history and offered her condolences to the families of the three Salmon Arm teens.
Loved ones have created a Facebook page named Carter Memories, and many are paying tribute to the Salmon Arm resident Carter Kosick.
Carter attended Salmon Arm Secondary School, where he spent his junior year at Jackson Secondary and senior year at the Sulivan campus.
Moreover, Carter was involved in several activities, including horseriding, and was an exceptional snowmobiler playing for the Salmon Arm Snownblazers.
In 2022, Carter Kosick was honored with the Youth Snowmobiler of the Year award by the British Columbia Snowmobile Federation.
Carter was not just known for his exceptional sports skills but also as a kind and humble person who was always there to help anyone in need.
His aunt, Jody Kosick-Thomas, took to her social media to express her love for her late nephew.
She wrote,
“I’ve loved you your whole life, and I’ll miss you the rest of mine.Carter Kosick you were so important in this world that you needed a second chapter… you’re off to save others now, and give multiple families the joy you gave to us. I’m such a proud Aunty… you’ve left a print on my soul permanently.See you later Carter Michael xoxo 💔♥️.”

Carter Kosick Is Survived By His Parents, Tyler And Angela Kosick, And Siblings
Carter Kosick is survived by his parents, Tyler and Angela Kosick, and two siblings, including an elder brother, Riley, and a twin sister, Brook Kosick.
Carter was born in August 2006 in Fort St. John and was beloved by his parents and siblings.
His father, Tyler, paid tribute to his late son on social media. Tyler stated that Carter was his ride-or-die buddy. He could turn a dull atmosphere into laughter and take an already-happening party to the next level.
Tyler Kosick also appreciated everyone for their heartfelt messages and everyone who visited Carter at the hospital.
Carter’s father, Tyler Kosick, is a Sales and Acquisition Broker at Aircraft Canada Inc. He has been serving in this position since June 2024.
In addition to being a Sales and Acquisition Broker, he has also been the president of Kosick Aggregates Ltd., located at Fort St. John, British Columbia, for over seven years.
Tyler also co-owns and has been the general manager of Kosick Holdings Inc. since August 2008 and owns a farm.
Likewise, he earned his private pilot and Aviation Management license from Adventure Aviation and his accounting and business management degree from College of the Rockies.
While very little information about Carter’s mother, Angela Kosick’s professional life, is available, her social media is filled with pictures of her late son Carter and his siblings.
His twin sister, Brook Kosick, is an exceptional rodeo who has competed in high school rodeo.
She competes in Barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, and breakaway roping. She has also competed in the world’s largest rodeo, the National High School Finals Rodeo, and led the Salmon Arm Secondary rodeo team.
