A tragic shooting on Sunday night claimed the life of 32-year-old Kianna Cachae Mayberry, who was gunned down while sitting in her car in her driveway on San Antonio’s Northwest Side.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed her identity following the late-night attack that has left family, friends, and neighbors heartbroken.
The deadly shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. at a home off Hickory Springs near Babcock Road.
According to investigators, a white sedan was parked a few houses down from the victim’s home.
When Mayberry stepped outside and entered her vehicle, three suspects approached her car and opened fire before fleeing the scene.
Mayberry was struck multiple times, including in the neck and head. Emergency responders rushed her to the hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
Neighbor Alfred Garcia, who was house-sitting across the street, recalled the terrifying moments leading up to the discovery.
“I was actually just out on the back porch with a friend, and we heard maybe around ten gunshots—it was rapid fire,” Garcia said.
“At first, I thought it was fireworks, but then we heard horrifying screams from the family.”

Another neighbor described the aftermath, saying,
“The police lights were lighting up the whole inside of the house. The whole road was blocked off, and from what I could see, her car was riddled with bullets.”

Residents said Mayberry had recently moved to the area and was known to be quiet and private.
The shocking violence has left the neighborhood unsettled, with many questioning how such a brutal act could unfold in their usually peaceful community.
