Fernando Tatis Jr., a Dominican professional baseball right fielder for the San Diego Padres of MLB, has been making headlines with his recent All-Star appearance alongside a young boy, sparking speculation about his son.

At the 2025 MLB All-Star Red Carpet event in Atlanta, Fernando Tatis Jr. sparked a wave of online speculation when he appeared with a young boy by his side.

Dressed in a sleek black-and-white suit, Fernando Tatis Jr. stood out among MLB’s biggest stars, but it was the young boy’s presence that caught the attention of netizens and sparked fresh rumors that he is the Padres outfielder’s son.

Furthermore, photos and video clips from the event quickly circulated on social media platforms, with fans curious to know more about the child.

While many believe the young boy to be Fernando Tatis Jr.’s son, and looks exactly like him, some claim that he has only a daughter and that the boy might be his nephew.

Fernando’s mother, Maria, also took to her social media, sharing several pictures of Fernando Jr., with the young boy referring to him as “little Fernando Jr,” further adding to the son rumors.

Despite growing curiosity, Fernando Tatis Jr. has yet to confirm whether the young boy is his son or a relative.

Some fans recalled past photos of Fernando Tatis Jr. that hinted he might have more than one child, but the Padres star has never publicly confirmed anything beyond having a daughter.

Fernando Tatis Jr. Shares a Daughter With Former Partner Jennifer Rodriguez

Prior to the recent rumors about a possible son, Fernando Tatis Jr. was in the spotlight due to a legal dispute with Jennifer Rodriguez, the mother of his daughter, concerning child support.

According to TMZ, Jennifer Rodriguez claimed in court documents that back in September 2021, following a years-long, non-exclusive relationship with Fernando Jr., she became pregnant with his child.

She further added that she initially hoped that the two would co-parent their kid, but following a paternity test that confirmed Tatis Jr. was the father, he and those close to him began treating the ‘impending birth like a business deal.’

Jennifer also stated that all those conversations prior to their daughter’s birth in June 2022 led her to sign an NDA and an ensuring private child support agreement that she says she had to negotiate “on her own” while months pregnant.

As part of the contract, Fernando Jr. agreed to pay Jennifer Rodriguez $20,000 a month.

Jennifer also revealed that Tatis Jr. has abandoned his daughter. She stated that although they continued dating through May 2023, the MLB star has only seen his daughter on five separate occasions for a total of four hours.

It remains unclear if Fernando Tatis Jr. and Jennifer Rodriguez have resolved their legal dispute or if it is still ongoing.
