He was born in Chester, New Hampshire, to his beloved parents and later moved to Sanford, Maine.
Jonathan Hunter Was A Talented And Dedicated Football Player!
Jonathan Hunter, affectionately known as “Jony Hunter,” was a student-athlete at Sanford High School in Sanford.
He played Tackle on the offensive line and Defensive Tackle on defense. As a member of the Class of 2026, he was expected to graduate in 2026.
His athletic achievements included being part of the varsity football team in 2022 and 2023.
During his freshman season, his team held a 6-5 record, ranking 22nd in the state. His contributions to the game reflected his dedication, skill, and love for football.
At just 17 years old, he had already demonstrated his skills and dedication on the field.
Moreover, he was known for his leadership, humility, and strong work ethic. He always supported his teammates and brought energy to the game he loved.
Beyond his athletic achievements, Jony was a kind-hearted and compassionate individual in his community.

His passing has deeply shaken his family, friends, and the entire Sanford community.
Sanford High School has provided grief counselors and crisis support for students and staff in response to this heartbreaking loss.
His family has expressed a desire to raise awareness about mental health, urging young people to speak up and seek help when needed.
A memorial service will soon be announced, and efforts are underway to establish a scholarship or fund in his name to support mental health programs for youth.
