Scott Bloomquist, a nationally touring American Dirt Super Late Model race car driver, died in a plane crash on August 16, 2024, at the age of 60, leaving behind his parents, former wife, and only daughter.

Bloomquist’s plane crashed into a barn next to an airstrip on his Mooresburg, Tennessee, property on the morning of August 16.

It’s been almost a year since we lost Dirt Racing star and National Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Scott Bloomquist, but new headlines have recently emerged about his tragic death.

Furthermore, Scott Bloomquist’s fatal plane crash has been recently ruled a suicide.

According to a report issued by the National Transportation Safety Board on June 5, it states that Bloomquist made an ‘intentional flight into a building as an act of suicide.’

The board said an autopsy confirmed he died of blunt force injuries during the crash.

Similarly, according to People, in a statement to Fox Sports’ Bob Pockrass on Tuesday, June 10, Bloomquist’s family asked for privacy after learning of his cause of death.

“At this time, the family of Scott Bloomquist is not making any public statements regarding the plane crash or the recent NTSB findings, They are focused on supporting one another and respectfully request privacy as they navigate this difficult period.”

They further added,

“We appreciate your understanding and ask that the media refrain from the further inquiries at this time”

The late Dirt Racing star Scott Bloomquist was a proud father of an only daughter named Ariel, whom he shared with his former wife Katrina Rouse Bloomquist.

While very little information is available about his former wife Katrina’s professional and personal life, as she prefers to maintain a low profile, the former couple was married for over two decades.

In a reddit post, one user wrote that Scott’s wife, Katrina, of many years, and the mother to his only child, left him and filed for divorce a while back.

The user further added that late Scott was dating a lady, but he isn’t sure if she was living with him. Scott mentioned his girlfriend in a Flo Racing interview a few weeks ago when he was hospitalized for a really bad wasp sting in 2024.

Moreover, the user concluded by stating:

“People keep saying suicide but I don’t think Scott would do that and leave Ariel with no father. They were VERY close. I don’t think he would purposely crash a $50,000 Piper J3 Cub from the 1940’s either. He loved those planes and loved his Dad even more and that plane was both of theirs. A gun is alot cheaper to end things instead of crashing his plane. Bloomquist was also hooking back up with his old buddy Barry Wright. Barry would build the chassis and Scott would incorporate some things of his own into those chassis. So he had that business partnership lined up behind the scenes. Like I said, that’s my opinion and I just don’t see him purposely going out like he did. Hell, his mom Georgie was the one to get to the wreckage first. I just don’t see Scott doing that to his loved ones. All my opinions of course.”

Despite their divorce, Scott Bloomquist and his former wife, Katrina, stood by each other’s side as constant supporters and mutually raised their only daughter, Ariel.

Katrina also often shares pictures of her late ex-husband and expresses her love and appreciation for him.
