Scott Van Pelt is an American sportscaster and sports talk show host. He was born in Brookeville, Maryland, and attended Flower Valley Elementary School in Rockville.

Later, he studied radio/television and film at the University of Maryland.

Pelt began his sportscasting career in 1990 at WTTG-TV, a FOX affiliate in Washington, D.C. He also worked for the Golf Channel, hosting some signature programs.

He joined ESPN in 2001 and served as a SportsCenter anchor, covering major tournaments such as the Masters Tournament.

Additionally, he started working as a studio presenter for the ESPN Network’s Friday night College Football on ESPN.

Moreover, following the ESPN layoffs, Scott Van Pelt replaces Suzy Kolber as host of the network’s Monday Night Football pregame show.

The Pelt couple welcomed their second child, Sam Van Pelt, on February 18, 2016, followed by their third child, Charlie Van Pelt, on August 28, 2017.

Moreover, Sam was named after his late grandfather, who passed away in 1988.

Scott Van Pelt Adds A New Gig To His Resume

After Suzy Kolber was let go as part of ESPN’s layoffs in June 2023, Scott will take Suzy’s place on the new Monday Night Countdown.

As per ESPN’s official announcement, Pelt will be joined by Marcus Spears, Ryan Clark, and Robert Griffin III.

Laura Rutledge was also a possible candidate for the job, but Van Pelt had the upper hand from ESPN management.

Although Rutledge missed her shot on the Monday Night Countdown, she would host its daily program “NFL Live and its SEC Nation pregame.
