At the team’s media day on 28 April, her name tag read “Skylar Diggins,” signaling a shift in how she wishes to be addressed moving forward.

The 34-year-old WNBA veteran seems to be stepping into a new chapter, both on and off the court.

While her Instagram handle still includes “Smith,” her profile name has been updated to “Skylar Diggins. ”

She’s also removed photos of her husband.

This isn’t just a social media update, as the Storm’s official team roster now lists her as Diggins.

In 2017, after getting married and playing for the Dallas Wings, she adopted the last name Diggins-Smith.

Now, it seems she’s choosing to return to her original name as she enters a new phase in her career.

Fans Speculate If Skylar Diggins And Daniel Smith Have Gone Separate Ways After Six Years Of Marriage

Skylar Diggins and Daniel Smith have been together since 2014, when they met while both students at Notre Dame.

During his time in school, Daniel played football and was quite successful, winning many games.

However, he had to step away from the sport after suffering an ankle injury. Then, he shifted his focus toward his true passion- art.

Daniel, who also graduated from a high school in South Bend, proposed to Skylar in June 2016 during one of his art shows.

The couple married in April 2019 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.

Following their wedding, Skylar started using the name Diggins-Smith on her basketball jersey.

She even shared the updated jersey on Instagram, announcing that she’d go by her new last name as she continued her career with the Dallas Wings.

The duo welcomed their first child in 2019 and had a daughter in 2023.

Despite Skylar’s high profile as a professional athlete, the couple has tried to keep their children out of the public spotlight.

Recently, Skylar removed “Smith” from her name on social media, sparking rumors about a possible divorce.
