European Championships gold medalist Sharlene Mawdsley shared a heartfelt Instagram story announcing the sudden and untimely passing of her father, Thomas ‘Tucker’ Mawdsley, on June 3rd, 2025.

Thomas’ passing occurred just two days after his daughter, Sharlene, competed in Michael Johnson’s Grand Slam Track event in Philadelphia.
There, she achieved a session-best time of 51.12 seconds, finishing sixth overall in the long sprints category and earning $15,000, making her parents proud.
While Sharlene Mawdsley and her family haven’t yet revealed the actual cause of the sudden and untimely demise of her beloved father, Thomas Mawdsley, many of her loved ones are extending their heartfelt condolences to her family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tom, and brother, Billy. Thomas ‘Tucker’ Mawdsley’s funeral and memorial service will take place on Friday, 6th June, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Meehan’s Funeral Home, Newport, with Removal to the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer, Newport.
Requiem Mass will be held on Saturday, 7th June at 11:30 a.m., and burial will take place in Rockvale Cemetery, Newport.
