Shinobu was born on December 28, 1993, under the star sign of Capricorn in Gonohe, Aomori Prefecture, Japan. But, unfortunately, he has never opened up about his childhood days and family.

Initially, he attended the 2016 Asian Olympic qualifier tournament competing in the 59kg Greco Roman event.
After qualification, Shinobu took the silver that Olympics, but before that, Shinobu had defeated Iran’s six-time world champion Hamid Sourian in the round.
Indeed, he was the underdog who took Hamid by 7-4 on points. Following it, he also took Phils Tuktaev down in the quarterfinals and Kim Seung-Hak in the semifinals.
However, he later lost himself to Wang Lumin in the finals. But in the end, he yet again made it to participate in the Olympic Games.
On the day of the 2016 Olympic games itself, Shinobu again faced Hamid and bagged the victory in the end even though he lost the first round. And the story of the day doesn’t end here.
Shinobu further took the victory over Kazakhstan’s multiple-time world medalist Almat Kebispayev, Norway’s former world bronze medalist Stig-André Berge and Azerbaijan’s 2011 world champion Rovshan Bayramov.
However, after reaching the Olympic final, Cuba’s Ismael Borrero took the victory on his hand as Shinobu lost by technical fall. After the hustle and bustle, Ota was silent for 2017 only to bag the 2018 Asian Games 60kg Greco-Roman event later.
The following year, Shinobu partook in the 2019 All-Japan Selection Championship for the 2020 Olympic Games. Well, for it, he stood in the 60kg Greco-Roman event where he made it to the finals.
However, in the final end, he lost to the 2019 World Championship winner Kenichiro Fumita and therewith, he couldn’t partake in the Olympic Games.
Hence, he later stood up for the 67kg Greco-Roman event, but yet again, he lost the game in the very first round.
MMA (Mixed Martial Arts)
Right near the end of the year 2020, Shinobu Ota transitioned from wrestling to MMA after signing with the Rizin Fighting Federation. Here, he initially fought and won the 63kg world title in Kazakhstan.
Similarly, he entered the Saitama Super Arena on December 31, 2020, against veteran MMA fighter Hideo Tokoro.
As his fight opponent was announced, Shinobu stated he hadn’t expected it to be Hideo for his debut match.
