Jacob Rodriguez, a 25-year-old runner from Edinburg, Texas, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025, in McAllen.
He was inside a Ford Bronco SUV upside down off the roadway in the 1600 block of North Bicentennial Boulevard.
A single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning resulted in the death of 25-year-old Jacob Rodriguez and injured six others.
The accident occurred around 2:08 a.m. on North Bicentennial Boulevard, and police responded to find a Ford Bronco SUV upside down off the road.
According to witnesses, the vehicle hit a stone fixture before rolling over.
Jacob Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene, and the six other occupants, ranging in age from 18 to 25, were taken to the hospital with injuries of varying severity.
Authorities have identified the driver as 18-year-old Gabriela Nuñez Garcia. Police suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash and are investigating potential criminal charges, including felony intoxication manslaughter.
The McAllen Police Department’s investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact McAllen Crime Stoppers.

Remembering Jacob Rodriguez’s Life of Laughter and Care
Jacob Roel Rodriguez, the son of Michael Acosta Rodriguez and Sonia Barron, was born on May 12, 2000, in Edinburg, Texas.
His parents raised him in a close-knit family alongside his two siblings, Michelle and Marco Rodriguez.
Jacob was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend who passed away at 25.
He leaves this world far too early, but he filled his life with more laughter, kindness, and love than many give in a lifetime.
He was an incredible son, a hilarious brother, a proud and doting uncle, and a friend who could make even the hardest days feel lighter.
Jacob graduated from The University of the Incarnate Word and had a gift for making people feel cared for. He worked every day as a dedicated nurse at Rio Grande Regional Hospital.
Moreover, he was the heart of the family. His laugh was contagious, his stories were legendary, and his hugs could fix just about anything.
He cherished his role as an uncle to Vicente James, Xavier Ace, and Scarlett Emilia Sanchez. His spirit was playful, sweet, and vibrantly alive.
Though his time was cut short, the memories he created will bring comfort and smiles for years to come. He will be missed beyond measure and loved forever.

Jacob is survived by his loving mother, Sonia Barron; sister, Michelle Rodriguez; brother, Marco Rodriguez; adored nephews, Vicente James Sanchez and Xavier Ace Sanchez; and cherished niece, Scarlett Emilia Sanchez.
On the other hand, he was preceded in death by his father, Michael.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Legacy Chapels, 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening.
Funeral services are under the compassionate direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
