John Radford is a former English soccer player who was born on 22 February 1947.

He has played for a lot of top English soccer teams which include Arsenal, West Ham United and Blackburn Rovers.

Radford, who played forward, is Arsenal’s fourth top goal scorer of all time.

In 1962, he became an apprentice at Arsenal before becoming a professional in February 1964.

He primarily played inside forward or centre forward for the club, but he also played right winger on occasion.

His skills started being more appreciated by the team after his debut against West Ham in 1964.

Radford was a regular for Arsenal by the start of the 1965-66 season. He attributed his growth to the then steward of Arsenal. 

Radford earned four caps for England’s under-23 team as a young international. On January 15, 1969, he made his entire debut for the Three Lions in a friendly against Romania.

During the 1969-1970 season, he scored nineteen goals again and assisted Arsenal in securing the 1970 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.

In that game, the Gunners won 4-3 on aggregate. Later, he went to Hertfordshire Club where he also worked as the commercial manager.

His International Career 

John had a short international career with the England national team. His international career lasted from 1969 to 1971, and he received two caps.

Radford made his international debut against Romania on 15 January 1969, at the young age of 21 years and 10 months, at the British Empire Exhibition Stadium (Wembley).

The game concluded in a 1-1 tie. At the age of 24 years and 7 months, he made his final appearance for the national team on October 13, 1971.

This was in a UEFA Euro 1972 Qualifying match versus Switzerland at St. Jakob Stadion in Basel.

Furthermore, Radford came on in the 84th minute of the match, which England lost 2-3.

Radford made two appearances for England in European Championship qualifying and friendlies during his international career.

Despite his short international experience, Radford was an important member of the England national team in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
