Born on February 26, 1998, to parents Kirt and Chari Kemp, Dylan Kemp grew up in Detroit before settling in Lake Odessa, Michigan.
He graduated from Lakewood High School in 2016, where he played softball and basketball.
After graduating, he dedicated himself to his work in lawn mowing. Alongside his career, he remained actively involved in sports, continuing to play both basketball and softball.
While basketball had been part of his high school experience, softball became his true passion, and he committed himself fully to the sport in the years that followed.
Known for his competitive spirit and selfless nature, he was a valued member of the Khaos softball team.
Kemp’s sudden passing has left his family, friends, and the Lake Odessa community heartbroken.
His mother, Chari, described him as a man with a heart of gold, saying:
Dylan Kemp, you possessed a heart of gold, consistently demonstrating a willingness to assist others. Your determination, competitiveness, and commitment inspired those around you. As a devoted son, brother, father, husband, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, your presence will be deeply missed by many. I love you so much.

Lanie Johns, one of his childhood friends, recalled the early days of their friendship, saying:
I remember 8th grade we moved into our home and these 2 boys kept riding by back and forth to see who we were. They ended up being like our brothers, we played almost everyday soccer, baseball, hide and seek… all the things. Dylan helped us move our stuff in and he was always over if we needed help…
Additionally, the Lakewood Alumni Association is organizing plans to honor Dylan’s memory.
