Sophie Schmidt married her long-time partner, husband Nic Kyle, in New Zealand in 2018. The couple are yet to become parents. 

Despite their busy careers, they make time for each other to travel and spend time together.

Sophie Diana Schmidt is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for National Women’s Soccer League club Houston Dash and the Canadian National Team. 

Her parents, Elmer and Cornelia Schmidt immigrated from Paraguay to Canada before Sophie was born.

In her youth career, she played for Abbotsford Rush, Vancouver Whitecaps, and Surrey United SC. Later, she joined Portland Pilots while studying at the University of Portland. 

Then, she began her senior career playing with teams like Vancouver Whitecaps, MagicJack, Kristianstads DFF, Sky Blue FC, and FFC Frankfurt. Sophie has been playing soccer with Houston Dash since 2019. 

Sophie is representing her home country in the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.

Sadly, this will be her last appearance for the World Cup, as she announced in February 2023 that she would retire after this big tournament.

According to an article shared by Sophie Schmidt in her tweets, she was married to her husband, Nic Kyle, on December 29, 2018.

Sophie’s husband, Nic Kyle, is an actor and singer managed by Karen Kay Management, a leading talent agency, and also performs musicals in The Music Man– Auckland 2023.

He is also a member of Equity New Zealand and co-founder of Houston Blues, a fan page of the soccer club Chelsea.

Apart from acting and singing, he seems to have a knack for landscape photography which can be seen through collections of images on his Instagram handle, @nickylekiwi.

Sophie and her husband dated for a long time. Their relationship advanced to another level when Nic proposed to Sophie on September 13, 2017, in Prague during their vacation.

Also, they have a lot in common as they love traveling, hiking, and new road trips as they can be seen together in different parts of the world.

Moreover, husband Nic has always supported his wife’s career and is often seen cheering for her during games.

Sophie and her husband had a long relationship before they married in 2018. They have been focused on their career and have no children yet.

However, they have two lovely dogs. Sophie’s first dog is a golden doodle breed, and she found Oates, their second dog while working out.

Despite not being a dog person, she adopted their dogs and loves and cares for them equally.

During Sophie’s games, Nic is responsible for caring for both dogs. He loves being with them and keeps sharing adorable posts on Instagram.

They travel together to different places vacationing, hiking, and road-tripping with their dogs like a small happy family.

Based on the way they treat their dogs, it is evident that they will be great parents to their kids.
