An 18-year-old senior at Souderton Area High School and varsity football player, Ashton Crossgrove, passed away unexpectedly in May 2025.
The Souderton Borough community is grieving from the devastating loss of Ashton Crossgrove, a cherished member of the school’s football program.
Ashton, born in 2006, was a beloved son, brother, friend, and a talented football player.
The Souderton Area High School football program, where Ashton was a significant figure, has been deeply affected.
Ashton Crossgrove was a dedicated and promising athlete who made significant contributions to the Souderton Area High School football program in Souderton, Pennsylvania, during the 2024–2025 season.
Beginning his career with the SAHS Freshman Football team from 2023 to 2025, Ashton quickly showcased his talent as a young player.
Eventually, thanks to his skills and commitment, which earned him a spot on the Boys Varsity Football team for the 2024–2025 season, where he played as a senior in the Class of 2027.
On the varsity squad, Ashton was notable not only for his athletic abilities but also due to his leadership, gentle, warm nature, and ability to motivate his team.
Unfortunately, Ashton’s life was cut short as he died prematurely in May 2025, but his memory remains engraved in the minds of people forever.
“Ashton had a spark that made everyone around him feel seen and valued,” one of his teachers shared. “He brought warmth to the classroom and dedication to his studies. He had so much potential and a truly compassionate soul.”
Ashton wasn’t just a talented athlete; he was a thoughtful and creative person. He loved music, going on adventures, and spending time with his family, friends, and his beloved dog.
Souderton Area High School released a statement expressing their grief, writing:
We are heartbroken by the loss of Ashton Crossgrove. He was an exceptional student, athlete, and friend. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, teammates, and everyone whose life he touched.
At the moment, details regarding a memorial service or tribute event are expected to be announced soon as the school and Ashton’s family coordinate ways for the community to come together in his memory.
