The Pike County community continues to grieve the sudden passing of 13-year-old Tra’Derric M. Hall, an eighth-grade student at South Pike Junior High School.

On August 21, 2025, Tra’Derric’s mother picked him up from football practice, unaware that tragedy would soon unfold.

Later that day, he was found unresponsive, and despite immediate efforts, he passed away.

Pike County Coroner Rashad Taylor confirmed the time of dispatch just before 5:00 p.m., though the cause of death has not yet been determined.

Tra’Derric’s parents, Juicymella Scott and Derric Hall, now face an unimaginable loss.

The South Pike School District released a heartfelt statement, extending its condolences to the family and emphasizing the importance of community support during this difficult time.

His mother, Juicymella Scott, who lives in Magnolia, Mississippi, is known for her warm, positive spirit.

She has worked in education and currently works as a glazer at Croft Metals. As a devoted mother, she often shared her pride in her children and remains deeply loved within her community.

His father, Derric Hall, has also received prayers and support from those close to the family.

Friends and relatives have taken to social media to send words of comfort, recognizing the strength it will take for both parents to cope with their son’s passing.

Educator KeyAnna Wallace, one of Tra’Derric’s teachers, expressed her heartbreak in a moving tribute.

She remembered his energy in the classroom, his sense of humor, and his role in daily routines that made him stand out as a favorite among students.

Her words reflect the love and admiration Tra’Derric inspired in both his peers and teachers.

The Hall and Scott families are now surrounded by prayers and compassion from Magnolia and beyond.

While the cause of Tra’Derric’s death remains under investigation, one thing is clear—the love of his parents, their grief, and the community’s outpouring of support highlight the profound impact of his short but meaningful life.
