Two students from Burlington Elementary in the South Point Local School District lost their lives in a tragic ATV crash on Sunday, November 2, 2025, including youth football star Keenan Honeycutt.
The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office reported that the crash occurred in the Fayette Township area of Lawrence County.
Nine-year-olds Keenan Honeycutt and Cole Daniel lost control of the ATV, which collided with a bench and a parked vehicle.
Both Keenan and Cole were rushed to Cabell Huntington Hospital, where they later died from their injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol, along with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating the incident.
Furthermore, the untimely death of Keenan Honeycutt and Cole Daniel has left a profound void in the lives of their family, friends, and loved ones.
The whole South Point, Ohio, community is paying tributes to the late Keenan and Cole, both exceptional student-athletes at Burlington Elementary and youth football stars.
Keenan Honeycutt Was a Member of The Ironton Youth Football League
The late Keenan Honeycutt touched the lives of many as a cherished member of the Ironton Youth Football League.
Wearing jersey number #13, Keenan played for the Ironton 3rd-grade tackle team for the 2025 season and led his team in several victories.
Ironton Youth Football League took to their official social media to pay tribute to their beloved member and wrote:
“We are devastated and heartbroken as a league and as a community. Keenan had an ALL IN attitude and was an amazing athlete. He had a very bright future ahead of him on the football field and played a great season at the IYFL, helping his team make it all the way to the Championship Game during Playoffs.”

Keenan Honeycutt is survived by his parents, Jack Honeycutt and Keirsten Howard; siblings; grandparents; uncles; aunts; cousins; and the entire family.
Born on October 6, 2016, Keenan Honeycutt lit up the room with his vibrant energy and cheerful nature.
Keirsten took to her social media to express her sorrow at losing her firstborn and wrote:
“God please bring these babies back please!!! I’m begging you I’m hurting so bad I need my baby back please god this can’t be real my baby boy my first born baby god why!!!”

“I was in the process of making his Super Bowl/end of season post when I got the phone call about my baby and now this is a whole different kind of post I really don’t even know what to say right now I’m still in shock I’m lost I’m confused I don’t what I’m doing but I do see everyone’s prayers, post and messages thank you all so much I greatly appreciate it please keep praying for me and my family and my babies best friends family R.I.P my sweet baby boy mommy loves you so so much I miss you so much baby I’m hurting this don’t seem real mommy needs you Keenan Anthony Honeycutt I love you baby💙💙”
