Victor Wembanyama is a young French basketball sensation.

Known for his combination of towering height, speed, ball-handling, and defensive skills, he has been nicknamed “Wemby” or “the Alien.”

Born on January 4, 2004, Victor Wembanyama was selected as the first overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Moreover, he was one of the most anticipated prospects of his generation.

He began his professional career at age 15 with Nanterre 92 in the French Pro A league.

Victor Wembanyama later joined ASVEL, where he won the Pro A championship.

Additionally, their maternal grandfather, Michel de Fautereau, played professional basketball, and their grandmother, Marie-Christine, also played the sport.

Standing at 6’1″, Eve Wembanyama currently plays for the USO Mondeville Basket in the LF2 league, France’s second-tier women’s basketball league.

Eve Wembanyama began her basketball journey with the youth teams Entente Le Chesnay Versailles and Nanterre 92.

By 2017, she had joined the youth ranks of LDLC ASVEL Féminin, a program well-regarded for its basketball development in France.

Her professional debut came in 2020 with LDLC ASVEL Féminin in the EuroLeague Women’s competition.

She averaged 3.0 points and 1.5 rebounds per game in her first season.

In mid-2021, she signed with the Monaco Basket Association in LF2.

Unfortunately, her season was cut short by an injury.

In January 2024, the French 3×3 basketball team selected Eve Wembanyama to compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Furthermore, Eve Wembanyama helped France win the FIBA U16 Women’s European Championship 2017 title.

This made her the first member of her family to win a European gold medal.

Beyond the court, Victor Wembanyama maintains a good relationship with his sister, Eve Wembanyama.
