Morton Grove, Illinois, community is mourning the untimely and tragic deaths of beloved fitness trainer and entrepreneur Boris Jozic and his wife, Cristina Jozic.

On Sunday morning, January 4, 2026, at approximately 8:44 a.m., the Police Central Dispatch in Aruba received a report that a person had apparently fallen from a balcony at the St. Regis Hotel in Noord and was showing no signs of life.

Police officers, fire personnel, and an ambulance were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, first responders found a male individual unresponsive, with no signs of life.

Ambulance personnel were unable to provide further assistance, and the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Authorities confirmed that the victim was an American male tourist, Boris Jozic,45 years old, born on November 13, 1980, in Bosnia, and holding an American nationality.

Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that Boris jumped from the highest floor of the hotel, resulting in fatal injuries.

Following the discovery, police officers and hotel staff proceeded to check the victim’s hotel room.

Inside the room, they found a female individual, later identified as Boris’s wife, Cristina Jozic, 52, born on November 13, 1973, in the Philippines, also of American nationality, who was also showing no signs of life.

According to information available on social media, Boris Jozic and Cristina Gatia were married in 2018.

The couple resided in Morton Grove, Illinois, where they jointly owned a fitness club named Steel Fitness and a healthy donut business.

Both worked as personal trainers. Their social media profiles reflect a shared passion for fitness, travel, and training together, frequently documenting trips around the world.

Authorities believe the couple had been staying at the St. Regis Hotel for approximately two days prior to the incident.

No additional details are being released at this time, as the case remains under active investigation.

Police have not commented further on the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death or the events leading up to the incident.
