Steve Spagnuolo has a net worth of upwards of $9 million. The Chiefs coach previously made $2 million in 2007 with the Giants and has been working in the NFL for more than two decades.

Last year, Vic Fangio was made the highest-paid defensive coordinator in the NFL. So, this year, there is a chance it could be Steve Spagnuolo’s turn, after all, he is heading to his third Super Bowl with the Chiefs.

In 2019, when Steve joined the Chiefs, they were one of the worst defensive units. He was tasked with improving the 31st-ranked team in defense. The Chiefs ended the season with a Super Bowl title to their name.

Spagnuolo became the first defensive coordinator in NFL history to win the Super Bowl with two franchises. He had won his first with the Giants.

Last year, he appeared in his fifth Super Bowl and won his third title. And now, victory on February 11 against Brock Purdy’s 49ers can make Spagnuolo the first four-time Super Bowl-winning coordinator on either side of the ball.

Steve Spagnuolo Net Worth & Salary 2024

The Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo net worth easily tops seven figures. A man with several years of experience, Spagnuolo was already making $2 million in 2008 with the New York Giants.

Spagnuolo’s coaching career began with Massachusetts in 1981, and his first stint in the NFL was in 1999 with the Philadelphia Eagles. In 2008, when he penned the $2 million contract with the Giants, Spagnuolo became one of the highest-paid assistants in the league.

A year later, after another successful season with the Giants, Steve was approached by the Rams to become their head coach. In January 2009, The New York Times reported that Steve had agreed on a four-year contract worth $11.5 million with the Rams.

Spagnuolo’s coaching career before joining the Rams had been perfect. But his three seasons with the Rams gave him the wrong name in the media. He ended his tenure with a 10-38 record and no postseason appearances.

In 2012, he returned to being a defensive coordinator, and in 2015 rejoined the Giants. In 2017, he became the interim head coach but couldn’t be their head coach. The Giants appointed Pat Shurmur on a five-year $30 million contract.

He signed with the Chiefs in 2019, but the details of his contract have never been outed. In 2023, the Miami Dolphins made Vic Fangio the highest-paid defensive coordinator.

Fangio signed a three-year, $13.5 million contract with the Dolphins, but the two have recently parted ways. So, it won’t be shocking if Steve becomes the next highest-paid defensive coordinator in the league as he helps the Chief to its third Super Bowl.

Steve Spagnuolo Family

The veteran NFL coach Steve Spagnuolo is married to Maria Spagnuolo, whom he met on a blind date. He wasn’t keen on dating and only agreed to go on a blind date after being convinced by his friends.

Steve and Maria grew up in a religious family and decided to tie the knot in a church in Rome. After a few years of dating, they walked down the aisle in 2005.

In an interview, Steve’s mom, Carol, said, “She was sent by God to be his wife.”

The former hairstylist and the NFL coach have previously done philanthropic works. In an interview, in 2020, Steve described his wife, Maria, as the most giving person.

The NFL coach said in his interview that Maria tells him money doesn’t change people and that it just brings out who they really are.

Steve said he and Maria strive to serve others in the honor of Father God. They do so with not only their finances but also with their time and opportunities.

Steve mentioned he and Maria had dedicated his playoff bonus after winning Super Bowl XLII to honor God. He also cited that his wife had found a youth home in the Bronx, New York, to help the kids.

Even though a few websites mention that the couple has five children, the Chiefs coach has never talked about his kids.
