Steve Wilks, an American professional football coach who most recently served as the defensive coordinator for the New York Jets, is more than his profession—he is a devoted husband to his longtime wife, Marcia “Marci” Wilson Wilks.
Wilks, a native of North Carolina, first met his wife, Marci, in 1997 at an outdoor jazz concert in Charlotte.
When the couple first met each other, Marcia ‘Marci’ was working as a nurse in Charlotte, while Steve was serving as defensive coordinator at Savanah State.
Furthermore, after dating each other for three years, the couple tied the knot and have been happily married for over 25 years.
In an interview, Marci stated that her husband, Wilks, let her know what she was getting into prior to their marriage.
“When we got married, he said, ‘There’ll be a day when I’ll be fired because that’s the way it goes,’ But we went a long time before that ever happened. It was crazy in the beginning, where we were moving every year for six years. But it was fun. It was by choice. He was getting promoted every single year. And he was working really hard, so we didn’t think about it.”

Steve Wilks often expresses his love for his longtime wife, Marci, and appreciates her for being his constant supporter through all the good and bad times.
The couple had to move from place to place because of Steve’s career, and Marci gracefully took care of him and the family.
“Everytime I would go to the coaching convention in college, my wife would be like, ‘ Just give me a call and let me know where we’re moving to.”

Steve Wilks and his longtime wife, Marcia ‘Marci’ Wilks, proudly raised three kids, two daughters, Marissa and Melanni, and a son named Steve James Wilks.
While very little information about their two younger kids, Melanni and Steve, is available as they prefer to maintain a low profile, according to some reports, their eldest daughter, Marissa Wilks, graduated from Spelman College.
In addition to being an amazing couple and great parents to their three kids, Steve and Marci are also known for their philanthropy and charitable works.
Together, the couple runs 3T Foundation, a youth development charity focused on empowering young men through mentorship, leadership training, life skills, and athletic activities in North Carolina.
As the wife of 3T’s founding member, Steve Wilks, Marci plays a vital role in advancing the organization’s mission.
Marci is also a passionate advocate for youth development and community service and has years of experience volunteering with nonprofits across schools, professional sports teams, and service organizations.
Likewise, in 2021, the couple established a scholarship at Steve’s alma mater, Appalachian State in North Carolina, named The Steve & Marcia Wilks Post-Graduate Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship, annually given to one Mountaineer student-athlete.
