Tank Bigsby’s Parents are the Foundation of the Football Star

Cartavious “Tank” Bigsby, the son of Shaquanna Bigsby, was born on August 30, 2001, in LaGrange, Georgia.

His parents raised him in a close-knit family alongside his two siblings, Ced and A.J.

Tank’s success story is one of resilience, shaped profoundly by his parents in different ways.

His mother, Shaquanna, primarily raised him as a single parent. She became the cornerstone of his life, providing unwavering support through both financial and emotional challenges.

Moreover, she nurtured his football dreams from a young age and stood firmly by his side throughout his formative years.

While his mother was a constant presence, Tank’s father was largely absent from his life. He shared that his father is incarcerated and was not there for most of his upbringing.

He credits this absence with forcing him to grow up quickly and develop a strong sense of responsibility at a young age.

However, his father did play one very early role: he helped give him his famous nickname.

Along with his aunt, his father nicknamed him “Tank” as a toddler because of his tough, fearless nature. He would bump into things and keep going, even as a baby.

He constantly ran into things around the house. Sometimes it would knock him over. But it never bothered him. He just got up and kept on going. One day, when he was around a year old, his father and aunt had an idea. “His name should be Tank.” The fit was perfect.

Tank and Cadillac had opened up about the common ground that instantly brought them together.

We had a lot in common about our lives, our background. What we’ve been through. Growing up, our moms struggling from a household just with your mom. Dad (is) not there. My dad is in prison right now. Just having the background about our families, just had that connection, so it was kind of big when we first met.
