This article was last updated by on

The New Zealand tennis player Monique Barry parents, Rachael and Peter Barry, are based in Melbourne, Australia. The youngster moved to Australia at age 4.

At 21, Monique has already won New Zealand Player of the Year twice. In September, she had a career-high ranking in WTA Single at 597. In November, her doubles ranking was at a career-high at 470.

She won her second ITF doubles title at an event in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand, in July. Monique had the Indian tennis player Shrivalli Rashmikaa Bhamidipaty as her doubles partner.

Barry’s first doubles title came in July 2022 in Caloundra, Australia, where she teamed up with  Kiwi Vivian Yang.

Recently, the Kiwi had expressed joy in securing ASB wildcard entry after defeating Elyse Tse with a final scoreline of 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. But the youngster has been defeated by Russia’s Elina Avanesyan 7-6, 6-2 in her first-round match at the ASB Classic.

Many expected Elina to win, but Monique made sure to give her a fair competition. Despite the loss, Monique said the game has only increased her hunger for more competition at a higher level.

Tennis Player Monique Barry Parents

The New Zealand tennis player Monique Barry is the only child of her parents, Rachael and Peter Barry. The couple has kept themselves out of the public limelight and hasn’t done any interviews.

In 2013, Rachael shared a photo of her daughter being a ball girl at Victoria Azarenka’s tennis match. So, it was clear that the Barry family supported Monique and her dream to become a tennis player from a young age.

Both Rachael and her husband Peter aren’t big on social media. They have only shared a handful of photos and recently shared a couple of pictures during their trip to the US.

Rachael and Peter visited the states of California and Nevada, taking pictures in front of the famous Hollywood sign. Despite, their daughter being crowned New Zealand Player of the Year twice in a row, the couple doesn’t seem to flaunt their child’s success on social media pages.

Though Monique has shared several snaps of her traveling to various places for her tennis tournaments, it remains unknown whether Rachael and Peter accompany her.

The couple is more likely to cheer for their daughter from down under. They haven’t appeared in any of the posts shared by Monique on her social media.

The Kiwi Player Ethnicity & Family: Meet Her Brother

Monique Barry was born in New Plymouth, New Zealand, but her family moved to Australia when she was only four. The tennis player and her family now live in Melbourne.

With Monique having not given many interviews, we do not have much idea about her ethnicity. There is a good chance Monique comes from a caucasian family, but there could also be a mix of other ethnicity.

Previously, Rachael had shared a photo from a wedding ceremony, which she said was of her son Davey Martin. Earlier this year, Davey had also shared a birthday post for Monique, whom he called his little sister.

Davey seems to be a rugby player, having previously played for Joondalup Giants in 2020 and currently starring for Taranaki 9s. In November, Martin shared that he had received the Paul Tuuta Award and shared a few snaps with his family and teammates.

Davey has previously featured in the Harmony Cup 6-Men’s Team of The Tournament. The NRL WA site had talked about Martin’s selection, calling him a big-time player.

Martin is believed to share five kids with his wife, whom he married in November 2022. He is currently based in Perth, Western Australia.
