Hailey Baptiste is an American professional tennis player who has won the hearts of millions with her exceptional athletic skills at such a young age.

With her growing popularity and advancing career, many are curious about Hailey Baptiste’s personal life, including details about her parents and family background.

Hailey Baptiste was born on November 3, 2001, in Washington D.C., United States to father Quasim Baptiste and mother Shari Dishman.

While very little information about Hailey Baptiste’s parents, Quasim and Shari, is available about their professional lives, they have been her constant supporters in her sports journey.

Furthermore, it was her parents who instilled Hailey Baptiste’s passion and love for tennis from a very young age and guided her to become one of the most renowned tennis players.

Hailey Baptiste also often credits her loving parents, Quasim and Shari, for being with her through all the good and bad times of her life.

Similarly, back when Hailey was just beginning her tennis career at 15 years old.

Her mother, Shari, displayed profound support by organizing a GoFundMe campaign (as early as 2016) to help ease the significant financial burdens of travel, training, and tournament fees essential for pursuing her professional tennis career.

Hailey Baptiste’s Father, Quasim, Was Her First Tennis Coach

Hailey’s father, Quasim Baptiste, served as her first tennis coach, providing direct guidance and development for her skills on the court.

When Hailey Baptiste was four years old, her father, Quasim, took her to a nearby court, pulling a couple of old rackets out of his closet to play tennis with her.

It was at that moment that Hailey Baptiste fell in love with tennis, while her father, Quasim, guided her every day.

In an interview, Quasim recalled the memories of his daughter’s sports journey and stated:

“I fed one ball to her, and ‘Pow!’ Forehand down the line.” From the pop of that ball, literally, she fell in love with the sport at that moment. For two years, every day, “I want to play, I want to play!’ I screwed all her strokes up, so everyone had to fix what I did,”

From playing in the nearby court to making her first professional debut, Quasim Baptiste witnessed his daughter Hailey’s growing tennis career.

Moreover, Quasim Baptiste often expresses his love and pride for Hailey and doesn’t miss any of her games.

After Hailey’s first-ever press conference after scoring her first WTA victory of her young career, defeating the No..2 seed Madison Keys, Quasim proudly talked about his daughter’s achievement in an interview, stating:

“She did pretty well. That was literally like her first press conference; she might have done some junior stuff, but as far as on this stage, that was her first one. she did pretty good, she could’ve talked a little better about me though, but she’ll get a pass for that.”

Although Quasim doesn’t have to coach his athlete daughter, Hailey Baptiste, he still plays a significant role in her career journey, serving as her day-to-day manager.

Hailey Baptiste’s Mother, Shari Dishman, Made Significant Financial Sacrifices To Support Her Tennis Career

Hailey Baptiste’s father is not her only constant support; her mother, Shari Dishman, also plays a significant role in her growing tennis career.

Although Shari Dishman didn’t play tennis, she helped her daughter in every way possible to begin her professional tennis journey.

Additionally, Hailey’s mother, Shari Dishman, cashed in thousands of dollars’ worth of inherited bonds and stocks and even withdrew from her retirement fund to help support her daughter’s tennis dreams.

Shari not only made a financial sacrifice for her daughter’s sports career, but she also gave up her own dreams of working in the fashion industry to ensure that her daughter could pursue her aspirations.

In an interview, SharI Dishman said:

“For me, it’s a family affair. Before I had Hailey, I planned to move to New York and work in the fashion industry. So I know what it’s like to give up on your dreams and have those nagging thoughts about what could’ve been. I will do whatever it takes to ensure that my only child never has to deal with that.”
