Teresa Weatherspoon is a former professional basketball player and a current coach.

She was one of the inaugural players in the WNBA when the league started in 1997.

Weatherspoon played for the New York Liberty throughout most of her WNBA career and became one of the franchise’s all-time greats.

She was named to the WNBA All-Star five times (1999-2003), won the WNBA Defensive Player of the Year award twice (1997, 1998), and was the 1997 WNBA assist champion.

After retiring from professional play in 2004, Teresa Weatherspoon transitioned into coaching.

Who Is The Wife Of Teresa Weatherspoon?

Although she is a prominent figure with a well-documented professional career, information about her private relationships remains scarce.

Reports suggest that there are conflicting claims about her sexual orientation, with some stating that she is a lesbian while others claim that she is heterosexual.

However, she has neither confirmed nor denied any of those statements.

Additionally, rumors have linked her to a romantic involvement with Tyra Banks, the American television personality and model, back in 1999.

Regarding her current personal life, she appears to be single, as she has not posted anything about her partner on her social media profiles.

It’s also possible that she is in a relationship but prefers to maintain a high level of privacy regarding her personal affairs.

Chicago Sky’s New Coach?

According to the sources, Teresa Weatherspoon is edging closer to finalizing a contract with the Chicago Sky, where she will be their next head coach.

The Sky had been looking for a new head coach since James Wade’s midseason departure to take up a position as an assistant coach in the NBA.

James Wade had been with the team for five seasons, guiding them to their first WNBA Championship during the 2021 season.

At the end of the season, the organization made it clear that interim head coach Emre Vatansever would not be returning as head coach.

Weatherspoon will take over a team that is ready to remain highly competitive.

Kahleah Copper, a three-time All-Star, recently signed a two-year extension, and the Sky also acquired the promising young sharpshooter Marina Mabrey in the previous offseason.

Before her prospective role with the Chicago Sky, Weatherspoon was an assistant coach with the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans for four years.

Before that, she held coaching positions as the head coach of the Westchester Phantoms (2007-2008) and the associate head coach at Louisiana Tech during the 2008-09 season, eventually taking over as the head coach from 2009 to 2014.
