The Terre Haute, Indiana, racing community is mourning the death of their beloved member, Nick Agresta, a former track owner and racer.

Nick Agresta passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the age of 79 after a brief illness, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

According to his wife Linda Agresta’s social media post, Nick had been experiencing serious health issues prior to his passing.

He was initially admitted to the hospital with concerns of a possible heart attack, which was later ruled out.

However, doctors discovered fluid accumulation in his right lung and around his heart. To manage the fluid, he was started on Lasix, a medication used to reduce fluid retention.

His cardiologist also placed him on a nitroglycerin patch to help his heart function, and plans were made for an echocardiogram and possibly a cardiac catheterization to assess his heart condition further.

While Nick had expected his issues to be limited to fluid buildup, the situation revealed more complex underlying heart concerns, ultimately contributing to his declining health.

Nick Agresta touched the lives of many with his remarkable contribution to the racing community.

His journey was one built on passion, purpose, and the pure love of motorsports. From his early days at the drag strip, Nick found his calling not just behind the microphone, but within the heart of the racing community itself.

Over the years, he grew from being a devoted enthusiast to a respected leader, eventually becoming the Sales Manager at VP Racing Fuels, where he worked tirelessly to support racers and promote the sport he loved.

At Wabash Valley Dragway, Nick became much more than an announcer—he was the voice of the track, the man who brought emotion, excitement, and history to life every weekend.

He had a gift for connecting people, for turning competition into community, and for reminding everyone why they fell in love with racing in the first place. His famous motto, “Do a wheelie,” reflected how he lived—boldly, joyfully, and without fear.

Many of his loved ones are paying tribute to the late Nick Agresta and extending their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.

Nick Agresta is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda Agresta; grandchildren, Haily Morgan and Christian Agresta; siblings; cousins; nieces; nephews; and the entire family.

Nick Agresta Was Preceded in Death By His Only Son, Matt Agresta

The passing of Nick Agresta came a day after the 17th death anniversary of his only son, Matthew Scott Agresta.

Matt Agresta passed away on October 25, 2008, in a tragic car accident at the untimely age of 30.

Furthermore, like Nick Agresta, his son also contributed a lot to the Indiana racing community.

He worked at Aisin Brake, served as an assistant chaplain for Racers for Christ, and was a member of the National Hot Rod Association and its Track Announcers Guild.

Matt was also a former high school Champ Drag Racer at Coles County Dragway in Charleston, IL, and was a former track manager at Action City Dragway in Terre Haute.

Additionally, he was an avid softball player. He graduated from North Vigo High School in 1997 and attended Taylor University.

Nick and Matt Agresta’s contribution to the Terre Haute community will always remain in the hearts of their loved ones.

A visitation for Nick Agresta will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Mount Pleasant UMC, 3050 E Davis Dr, Terre Haute, Indiana 47802.

A funeral service will be held on the same day and at the same place from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. An entombment will occur from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Roselawn Memorial Park, 7500 N Clinton St, Terre Haute, Indiana 47805.
