Damon Arnette Jr., the Houston Texans cornerback, has experienced a challenging journey of highs and lows, supported consistently by his parents, Montreana Arnette and Damon Arnette Sr.

Their love, guidance, and resilience have supported Damon’s journey, helping him overcome setbacks and return to the NFL.

Damon Arnette Jr. was born in Dallas, Texas, to Montreana Arnette and Damon Arnette Sr.

Not long after his birth, his father transferred to Florida Atlantic University (FAU) to pursue his athletic career.

When Damon Jr. was three years old, he and his mother moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for the summer before his father’s senior season.

This move marked the beginning of Damon’s connection to the Sunshine State, where he would later shine as a high school football star.

Damon Sr., a former professional basketball player who spent eight years competing overseas, understood the challenges of a professional athlete’s lifestyle.

He often shared his wisdom with his son, cautioning him that the glitz and glamour of professional sports come with pitfalls.

Despite his best efforts to guide his son, Damon Jr. would have to learn some lessons the hard way.

Montreana, a dedicated mother and student of early childhood education at Palm Beach State College, has been a pillar of strength for her family.

Her nurturing spirit and unwavering belief in her son have played a crucial role in his journey.

Alongside Damon Jr., the family includes his sister, Dakota Arnette, a talented volleyball player at Lehigh University.

Together, the Arnettes have built a tight-knit family that rallies around one another through every triumph and trial.

Growing Up, Damon Jr. Was Exposed To The World Of Sports At An Early Age

When Damon Jr. was just two years old, his father would occasionally bring him to workouts at Carter’s training facility in Boca Raton, Florida.

These early experiences fostered a bond between Damon Jr. and Carter, who became a trusted mentor and close family friend over time.

Carter’s guidance, combined with the support of Damon’s parents, helped shape him into a promising athlete.

Damon attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, a powerhouse known for producing top-tier talent.

His skills on the football field earned him attention from colleges across the country.

Initially committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks during the summer before his senior year, Damon made a last-minute switch to Ohio State on National Signing Day.

This decision set the stage for his collegiate career, where he showcased the talent that would eventually lead him to the NFL.

Damon’s professional career began with promise when the Las Vegas Raiders selected him in the first round, 19th overall, in the 2020 NFL Draft.

However, his time with the Raiders was marred by controversy.

In November 2021, a video surfaced of Damon brandishing firearms and making death threats, leading to his release from the team.

Earlier that year, he was accused of injuring a woman in a 2020 car crash, allegedly fleeing the scene after colliding with her vehicle on his way to practice.

Legal troubles continued to follow.

In January 2022, Damon was arrested in Las Vegas on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, and possession of controlled substances.

Later that year, on July 25, he was pulled over and found to have a suspended license.

In January 2024, another arrest in Richardson, Texas, brought charges of possession of methamphetamine and unlawful carrying of a firearm.

These incidents painted a troubled picture of a young man struggling to find his footing.

Despite these setbacks, Damon’s career saw moments of resilience.

After his release from the Raiders, he signed with the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad in 2021.

In January 2022, he signed a reserve/futures contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, but he was released later that month following his arrest in Las Vegas.

His journey took him to the United Football League’s Houston Roughnecks in December 2024.

On June 20, 2025, he signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans, marking a triumphant return to the NFL.

Through Every Challenge, Damon’s Family Stood By Him

His mother, Montreana, expressed her pride in a heartfelt message after his signing with the Texans:

“To say I’m proud would be a complete understatement. This journey hasn’t been easy, it’s taken sacrifices, discipline, humility, and relentless hard work to get here. You’ve faced the setbacks head-on, stayed focused, and did the work when no one was watching.
You never gave up. You believed, even when the road felt uncertain. And now… you’re back where you belong.
SIGNED to the NFL.
This moment is more than a contract—it’s a testimony of growth, resilience, and faith.
Let the world watch what’s next.”

Montreana’s words capture the heart of the Arnette family’s unwavering support.

Damon Sr. and Montreana have been there through the thick and thin, offering love and guidance as their son guided the rough waters of fame, mistakes, and redemption.

Damon’s sister, Dakota, also remains a source of inspiration. She balances her own athletic pursuits while cheering on her brother.

Now 28 years old and a father of three, he expressed deep guilt for his earlier mistakes.

He credited his family and the coaches at the Houston Roughnecks for helping him grow both as a player and as a person.

“I’m 28 years old right now with three kids, with a mom and dad that loves me and has my back right now,”

He shared, highlighting the critical role his parents played in his redemption.

Damon’s story is one of strength, filled with the love and support of his parents, Montreana and Damon Sr.

Their belief in him, even during his darkest moments, gave him the strength to persevere.

From the Boca Raton training fields to the NFL spotlight, the Arnettes have been a constant presence, guiding their son through a journey of growth and second chances.

As Damon Arnette Jr. takes the field for the Houston Texans, he carries with him the lessons of his past and the love of his family.
