His coaching career includes time spent at Fresno State, New Mexico, and recently the University of Kansas. This is the second time Coach Elko has hired a coach from a Kansas university. He previously hired the KSU offensive coordinator Collin Klein.

Missy Peterson, 36, tied the knot with the football coach in 2011. On his social media handle, Jordan has shared several tribute posts for his wife and the mother of his three kids.

Last year, on Mother’s Day, Jordan shared a photo of Missy with their three daughters, all in white dress. He captioned the post, “To the woman that always puts our kids and family before herself, that bends over backward to make things happen, and the ultimate supporter of us all.

WE LOVE YOU, APPRECIATE YOU, and HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!! Love you, babe!”

Posts like these are normal for Jordan to share. He doesn’t only share these appreciation posts on his Facebook handle but also on his X handle. The couple’s first child, Ellie Rose Peterson, was born on April 5, 2014.

Ellie was seen holding the board that read, “BABY SHARK, DUE DUE DUE DUE, SEPTEMBER 2019.” The Peterson family introduced their third child, Everly, on September 27, 2019.

Previously, the Kansas Football team featured the Peterson family in a special video made for Mother’s Day. In the video, Jordan can be seen asking his three daughters questions about their mother’s favorite food and favorite thing to do.

The middle child, Emery, was the quickest to answer both questions. She even revealed that her mom’s favorite thing to do is taking pictures.

Peterson coached Fresno for five seasons, helping the Bulldogs to three consecutive bowl games- a 2014 Mountain West Championship appearance and a 2013 Mountain West title.

After bidding goodbye to Fresno, New Mexico hired Jordan as their safeties coach. In 2019, he was promoted to defensive coordinator.

He joined Kansas in 2020 and started as their safeties coach. In 2021, his responsibilities increased as he became their defensive analyst. At the end of 2023, he became Kansas’ Co-Defensive Coordinator, but that promotion wasn’t enough to keep him for long.
