Lucas Hitter, a talented soccer player from Texas A&M, passed away peacefully at 22, leaving deep sadness among his family, friends, teammates, and everyone who knew him.

Lucas was a beloved son, brother, and friend. He showed love, strength, and kindness, and his joyful spirit affected many lives.

Born in Pilar, Buenos Aires, Argentina, to parents Federica Armanini and Guillermo Hitter, Lucas grew up alongside his brother, Matthias, in a close-knit family.

In 2014, the Hitter family immigrated to Houston, where Lucas quickly adapted and thrived.

Raised with strong values, he presented himself with humility, determination, and an unwavering work ethic that defined his character.

Lucas faced challenges early on, including a diagnosis of benign epilepsy during high school.

Yet, he never allowed this to dim his ambitions or spirit. Instead, he channeled his energy into academics and athletics, uplifting those around him and leaving a lasting impact wherever he went.

Lucas’s Dedication To Education And Sports Was Evident Throughout His Life

A consistent honor roll student at Cy-Ranch High School, he graduated with distinction before pursuing higher education.

In December 2023, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Temple University, maintaining an impressive 3.3 GPA.

His academic journey continued at Indiana University and Blinn College, where he completed his studies in July 2024.

Lucas recently enrolled at Texas A&M University, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management at the prestigious Mays Business School.

A month before his death, he shared the exciting news that he had been accepted into the program. This acceptance showed the results of eight months of hard work.

In a heartfelt announcement, Lucas expressed gratitude for the support of his family, friends, and mentors, who cheered him on every step of the way.

He also showcased his skill and leadership by wearing the #9 jersey for Cy-Ranch High School’s varsity team.

His talent shone even brighter with the Dynamos Soccer Club, where he was a top scorer and 2002/03 team captain.

Lucas led the team to numerous championships, including the coveted Champions League, and was a key starter for the 2001/02 squad, scoring critical goals that cemented his legacy.

His work ethic, respectfulness, and charm made him a role model for younger players.

He even served as an assistant coach during the Dynamos’ Select Camp, going above and beyond to inspire the next generation.

Lucas’s soccer journey took him to the Division 1 level, where he played for two universities, leaving an indelible mark on his teammates and coaches.

His decision to return to Texas and join Texas A&M marked a new chapter filled with promise and potential.

Outside Of Academics And Athletics, Lucas Was A Diligent Worker Who Balanced Multiple Roles With Grace

From 2018 to 2022, he served as a pool manager at DS Recreational Services, Inc., earning the respect of colleagues and community members.

He later worked as a dining room attendant at Bakersfield for five months before joining Vuori as a sales floor associate in Houston.

In every role, Lucas brought his signature warmth and professionalism, forging connections that enriched the lives of those around him.

Lucas Had A Contagious Laugh, A Perfect Smile, And A Big Heart, Making Everyone Feel Valued

Whether you knew him for years or just a moment, Lucas left an impression of warmth and comfort that was uniquely his.

His parents described him as “a source of love, strength, and kindness.” Everyone who knew him felt the same way.

Friends remembered him as the life of every gathering, someone whose presence could transform a room.

Perhaps no one felt his loss more deeply than his best friend and roommate, Hayden De La Cruz, who penned a heartrending tribute:

“Lucas wasn’t just my best friend, he was my brother. This man truly made me feel whole. .Every single detail about you was so special and unique. Lucas and I shared such a powerful bond together, you changed my life for the better Luqui. Not a day will go by that I don’t think of you. Dance and sing up in heaven like you would down here for me. I love you with everything I have papa. Fly high my heavenly angel❤️🪽”

The Dynamos Soccer Club shared a heartfelt statement to express their sadness and to honor his legacy.

“Lucas went peacefully in his sleep. He was an amazing young athlete, who went on to play Div.1 in College, and had just transferred to Texas A&M. 
Beside being such a great player for our 02/03 team who won numerous Championships, including the Champions League. He was also a star player for CyRanch HighSchool Varsity. Lucas was just an outstanding young man. Well grounded, extremely hard working, respectful, with superior work ethics, and such a charming personality. He mirrored to perfection what a true Dynamos Soldier should be.
Our staff is still in shock and full of sadness, but I know Lucas is, and always will be with us, smiling and cheering us on.”

After the tragedy, Lucas’s best friend, Hayden De La Cruz, started a GoFundMe campaign to help the Hitter family with funeral and memorial costs.

With a goal of $60,000, the fundraiser has already raised over $40,000, reflecting the immense love and respect for Lucas and his family.

Friends have encouraged others to share the campaign, ensuring Lucas’s memory is honored through acts of kindness and solidarity.

As his family, friends, and community grieve, they take comfort in memories of Lucas. His laughter, smile, and joyful spirit will inspire them to live courageously.
