Preston Malone III, a sophomore junior varsity football player at Lancaster High School, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at an untimely age of 15, leaving his parents, siblings, and loved ones devastated.
According to reports, the Lancaster football star, Preston Malone III, fell ill during football practice on Monday afternoon.
A coach noticed that Preston was showing symptoms of heat exhaustion, including not sweating during 60-yard sprints, said Lancaster ISD spokeswoman Kimberly Simpson.

The team immediately called 911 and put Malone into a cold tub to lower his body temperature, who had a temperature of 104 before getting in the tub. By the time EMS arrived, the temperature had dropped to 102.
Preston was further taken to an ambulance for tests and treatment before being rushed to the Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.
Likewise, in an interview, District officials said that Malone never lost consciousness and also talked with a coach and trainer, telling them he’d be ok and apologizing for not finishing his workout.
He also showed some signs of improvement. Unfortunately, after two days of being admitted to the hospital, Preston Malone III lost his life, leaving his loved ones heartbroken.

Born in 2010 in Lancaster, Texas, late Preston Malone III, aka Tre, was a beloved eldest son of Preston E. Malone Jr. and Antanette Wynn-Malone. He has two younger brothers named Aiden Deion and Priceton Malone.
While his parents haven’t released any statement as they are currently grieving the loss of their beloved son, Preston Malone III, they often share pictures of him on social media, showcasing their love and pride for their eldest son.
Furthermore, Preston’s grandfather, Preston Malone Sr., in an emotional social media video, said that Preston suffered heat stroke during practice and then later had a heart attack at the hospital.
“They were not outside. They were indoors. Nevertheless, he still suffered an extreme heat stroke,” said Preston Sr.
In addition to his parents, Preston E. Malone Jr. and Antanette Wynn-Malone, Preston Malone III is also survived by his grandparents, brothers, cousins, aunt, and whole family.

Talking about Preston Malone III’s personal life, his parents, Preston E. Malone Jr. and Antanette Wynn-Malone, are well-known in the community for their professions.
His father, Preston E. Malone Jr, has been serving as the Adjunct Professor-ESL and Academic Coach (Bilingual) at Dallas College since 2023.

Prior to that, Preston Jr. served as an instructional designer for American Leaders Society, Inc., fostering character development in youth for almost two years, and as an english instructor of Dallas Independent School District for nearly a year.
He also worked as an ELAR Instructor and Creative Writing teacher at Gateway Charter Academy and as an English Language Instructor at Texans Can Academies.
Similarly, from 2018 to 2020, Preston Jr. served as the project manager and technical lead at Lone Star Communications, Inc. Prior to that, he served as a computer applications and technology teacher and an elementary science and social studies teacher at Nova Academy.
Regarding Preston Malone III’s father, Preston Malone Jr’s academic background, he earned his MEd with a major in Instructional/Curriculum Design with Technology from Northcentral University in 2019 and his BA in English Language and Literature from Langston University in 1999.
Talking about Preston Malone III’s mother, Antanette Wynn-Malone, who earned her BS in Accounting and MS in Accounting from Tuskegee University, has been working as a district internal auditor and adjunct professor at Dallas College since 2014.
