The Dallas Mavericks Shooting Guard Klay Thompson’s Net Worth Shoots Up To $70 Million Making Him One Of The Richest Athletes In The World

The Golden State Warriors legend Klay Thompson has a net worth of $70 million. Throughout the years, the shooting guard has made millions through his NBA contract, brand deals, and endorsements.

Coming from a well-off family filled with athletes, money was not a problem for Thompson.

But he chose to carve his own path to success without relying on family inheritance.

Thompson, the 11th overall pick in the 2011 draft, has become the game’s legend in his 13-year-long career.

His partnership with the other NBA legends, Steph Curry and Draymond Green, took the NBA by storm, leading the Warriors to four NBA Championships.

At age 34, Thompson’s prime years are behind him.

Nonetheless, there was excitement among fans this offseason to watch Thompson play alongside Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving in Dallas.

Thompson is averaging 14 points, 1.8 assists, and 3.6 rebounds this season.

The Mavs fans hope that Doncic, Irving, and Thompson can lead them to a Championship, healing the pain caused by the Celtics last season in the NBA Finals.

Klay Thompson’s Net Worth Shot Up As He Became The 25th Highest Earning Athlete In The World

The Mavericks star, Klay Thompson’s net worth has hit an all-time high, and so have his earnings.

The list shared by Forbes in May 2024 shows Thompson is the 25th-highest-paid athlete in the world.

As per the list, Thompson has earned a whopping $62.3 million, with $45.9 million of those earnings coming from on-field and the rest coming from brand deals.

Only four other NBA stars are ahead of Thompson on the list, with LeBron James coming in fourth with $128.2 million.

The Bucks’ star player, Giannis Antetokounmpo, landed right behind James with $111 million.

His former teammates, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant, are next on the list.

Steph is ninth on the list with $102 million, and Durant is 12th with $93.3 million.

During his time with the Warriors, Thompson made more than $250 million.

In 2011, his rookie deal was worth $9.7 million, and when the time of extension came in 2015, he earned $68 million.

In 2019, he signed a five-year $189.9 million deal with the Warriors, and earlier this year, after 13 seasons, he left Golden State to sign with the Mavs.

Thompson signed a three-year $50 million contract with the Mavericks. The contract earns him an average annual salary of $15.8 million in the 2024 season.

Though Thompson wanted to stay with the Warriors, the organization didn’t put any offers on the table for its former star.

Thompson’s last proposal for the Warriors was a two-year contract for $20 million annually, but the Warriors declined it.

Now, with the Dallas, Klay might’ve earned his last contract in the NBA.

Klay Thompson Earns Millions With His Brand Deals

In 2014, three after making his NBA debut, Thompson signed a deal with Anta to bring his signature shoe to the market.

Thompson passed on the opportunity to sign with Adidas and Nike and launched his “KT” signature shoes with the Chinese company.

A 26-year-old Thompson in 2017 signed an extension with the brand worth up to $80 million.

At the time, Thompson said,

I was going to hopefully be the Michael Jordan one day of Anta.

In 2024, Thompson launched his 10th signature shoe with Anta, making for the longest-ever series for an active NBA player with a Chinese brand.

Thompson also became only the 10th player in league history to release ten consecutive signature shoes with the same brand during his playing career.

Anta has revealed it has sold more than 10 million pairs of Thompson signature logo-branded sneakers.

Earning brand deals hasn’t been a difficult task for Thompson.

Even during his injury years from 2019 to 2021, Thompson managed endorsement deals with Waiakea Water, Bevel, and NERF.

Klay Thompson’s Love For Houses And His Precious Boat

The NBA legend, Klay Thompson, still owns his first home he purchased after getting drafted.

The house is located in the East Bay but the location hasn’t been disclosed yet.

He purchased his second home in Dana Point, California, for $2.2 million in 2015.

The 2,433 square feet home is located on the seaside and features three bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a living room with a fireplace.

Other features include a game room, bar, and a two-car garage.

The shooting guard bought his third home in San Francisco in 2019.

In an interview, Thompson said he won’t reveal the location of his house, probably to stay clear from crazy fans.

It isn’t clear where Klay lives in Dallas, but Golf Digest suggested that the NBA star add The Right Mix Ranch in Joshua, Texas, to his list of houses.

The ranch features a nine-hole par-30 golf course on its 24-acre spread.

But more than his houses and cars, Klay Thompson loves his boat.

Nicknamed Capitan Klay, Thompson purchased an Axopar from Latitude when he was still recovering from two major injuries.

The boat is valued at around $400,000, and Thompson began using it to commute from Marin to Chase Center, the Warriors’ arena.

During his first interview as a Mav, when asked about the situation with the boat, Thompson revealed he has a Boston Whaler ready to go.
