Family and community mourn the death of Kevin M. O’Donnell, whose strength and humor endured through ALS.

Born in Janesville, Wisconsin, Kevin’s journey took him across the country as he pursued his passions for sports, travel, and the outdoors.

Kevin’s early years began in Wisconsin, but his family relocated to Ohio when he turned nine years old.

He completed his high school education at Willoughby South High School, where he developed his athletic abilities and leadership skills.

His passion for sports led him to Baldwin Wallace College. During his college years, Kevin formed lifelong friendships that would remain important throughout his life.

After graduating from college, Kevin embarked on a journey that would define his adventurous spirit.

He moved to Arizona before making his way to Yellowstone National Park in 2000.

This decision proved pivotal when he met Vanessa, who would become his devoted wife and life partner.

Together, they shared a love for travel and adventure that led them to make the bold decision to “retire in their twenties.”

Kevin and Vanessa’s shared wanderlust took them to some of America’s most beautiful locations.

They lived by the Grand Tetons in Idaho, experienced island life on the Big Island in Hawaii, and settled near Mount Rainier in Washington.

Each location offered new opportunities for outdoor adventures and allowed them to deepen their connection with nature.

The couple eventually established themselves in Bellingham, Washington, where they developed a unique lifestyle that perfectly matched their love for adventure.

During summer months, they lived aboard their sailboat, exploring the San Juan Islands and experiencing the freedom that comes with life on the water.

Winter brought them to White Pass, Washington, where Kevin managed a private ski club, combining his business skills with his passion for winter sports.

In 2010, Kevin and Vanessa made another significant move, this time to Kennebunk, Maine.

Kevin seized this opportunity to further his education, earning his Business Degree from the University of Southern Maine.

Kevin’s career spanned multiple industries, with significant experience in real estate and the boating industry.

Throughout his professional life, Kevin maintained his reputation as a hard worker who never lost sight of what truly mattered to him.

The family’s move to Lincolnville in 2015 marked the beginning of a new chapter.

Kevin continued working in his chosen fields while maintaining his commitment to outdoor activities and family life.

His colleagues and clients knew him as someone who brought the same enthusiasm to his work that he applied to his personal adventures.

Community Mourns The Death Of Kevin O’Donnell

Kevin M. O’Donnell passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the age of 48, after battling ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).

His death marked the end of a courageous fight against this devastating disease, but his legacy continues through the countless lives he touched and the family he leaves behind.

Throughout his battle with ALS, Kevin maintained the strength and humor that had always defined his character.

His family describes him as the pillar of strength who could lighten any mood with his sarcastic humor, even during the most challenging times.

His greatest pride and joy came from his role as father to his three children: Indra, Oaklee, and Orla.

Kevin started his family with Vanessa in 2013, and the arrival of their three children transformed his life in the most meaningful way.

He approached fatherhood with the same dedication and passion he brought to every other aspect of his life.

Kevin made it his mission to teach his children how to appreciate the outdoors and engage in various sports, sharing his love for nature and physical activity.

His commitment to his children extended beyond outdoor activities. Kevin established a nightly routine of reading with Indra, Oaklee, and Orla, ensuring that learning and bonding continued even when darkness prevented outdoor play.

Friends and family remember Kevin as a natural athlete who constantly sought new ways to challenge himself physically and mentally.

He pushed his body to its limits while exploring nature, and his genuine smile during these adventures brought joy to everyone around him.

His enthusiasm for life proved infectious, inspiring others to embrace their own adventures and live more fully.
