Bob Fredricks, West Catholic High School Basketball Coach, passed away unexpectedly on December 25, 2025.

He set the standard at West Catholic with his disciplined and process-oriented approach to the game.

Bob Fredricks’ name was synonymous with winning basketball with heart for years.

He coached the West Catholic High School basketball team and built a powerhouse program, winning numerous victories and building character.

He proved a timeless truth of winning at the highest level by mastering the basics. His teams were known for their sharp passing, disciplined defense, and smart play.

Bob’s legacy runs deeper than any win-loss record. He genuinely cared for each player as an individual and invested in their spiritual growth, shaping young men to be leaders.

When we would find a flaw, and Bob Fredricks was pushing, he would always say,” Thats the problem with (GD) x-ray guys, you won’t be happy until you break this place”, then would say “Go ahead ,fix the fu* thing”

West Catholic Says Goodbye to Legendary Coach Bob Fredricks

Bob Fredricks was a pillar of the West Catholic High School community who passed away on December 25, 2025.

He left behind a legacy of character, passion, and unwavering dedication that will forever echo through the halls and gymnasium of the school he loved.

Bob didn’t just build a program, but built people.

He was a foundational figure who dedicated himself wholly to the student-athletes of West Catholic.

Under his leadership, the basketball teams became synonymous with integrity and reflected the core values of discipline, selfless teamwork, and exemplary sportsmanship.

The record books noted his many victories, but his true wins were measured in the growth of the young men and women he guided.

Was just informed my grade school basketball coach, Bob Fredricks, passed away this morning. I’m sure a lot of you remember him. Send some prayers to his family! He coached boys at St.Mary’s and coached girls at West Catholic!

The Fredricks family will soon announce a memorial service to celebrate the life of a beloved coach.
