While Joe Coleman’s beloved wife, Donna, largely stayed out of the public eye, she was known to be deeply supportive of Joe’s career and family life.

Joe Coleman was a pioneering Major League Baseball pitcher whose career stretched over 15 seasons.

Born on February 3, 1947, he played for seven MLB teams throughout his career from 1965 to 1979.

His longest and most successful stint was with the Detroit Tigers, where he earned All-Star honors and posted multiple 20-win seasons.

After retiring, Coleman transitioned into a respected coaching role with the Angels, Cardinals, and Mariners.

Officially, he retired from coaching in 2015, concluding his career as the pitching coach for the Jupiter Hammerheads, a Class A affiliate of the Miami Marlins.

Tragically, he passed away in his sleep on July 9, 2025, in Jamestown, Tennessee, at the age of 78, as confirmed by his family.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; his daughter, Kristen; his son, Casey; and three grandchildren.

Joe Coleman Is Survived By His Wife, Donna, And Two Children!

Joe Coleman was married to Donna Coleman, a devoted partner who remained by his side throughout his baseball and coaching career.

He met his beloved wife after moving to Fort Myers, Florida, in 1982. Together, they had two children, Casey and Kristen, and three grandchildren.

Their journey as a couple began long before Joe’s playing days were over, though specific details about when they met and got married have not been publicly disclosed.

Donna worked as a physical education teacher and played a pivotal role in her son’s early baseball development.

She coached Casey from his youth baseball days through his development in travel teams and beyond.

Reports highlight that Donna frequently worked with Casey in their backyard batting cage, even catching his pitches in full gear.

Moreover, she played a central role in supporting the family, especially during Joe’s time as both player and coach.

Their son, Joseph Casey Coleman, followed in Joe’s footsteps as a professional pitcher.

Born on July 3, 1987, in Fort Myers, Florida, Casey became the third generation in the Coleman family to pitch in the major leagues.

He played in MLB from 2010 to 2014, primarily with the Chicago Cubs and later with the Kansas City Royals, compiling an 8–13 record with a 5.72 ERA and 123 strikeouts over 58 games.

After his MLB tenure, Casey continued pitching in the Mexican League, including stints with the Toros de Tijuana, Leones de Yucatán, and, most recently, the Conspiradores de Querétaro.

However, injuries kept him sidelined through 2024. He re-signed with Querétaro in March 2025, showing his commitment to the game.

On the other hand, Kristen Coleman, Joe’s daughter, has stayed mostly out of the public eye, with limited information available about her professional life.

After Joe’s peaceful passing in July 2025, Donna continued to live privately, surrounded by their children and grandchildren.
