The Sacramento Kings’ Small Forward DeMar DeRozan’s Net Worth Has Reached $30 Million Thanks To His Big Contracts Throughout The Years

The former Chicago Bulls star DeMar DeRozan has a reported net worth of nearly $30 million. DeRozan annually makes over $20 million in salary with his new team, the Sacramento Kings.

From being raised in a violence-filled neighborhood in Compton, California, to becoming one of the biggest NBA stars, Deebo has come a long way.

Earlier this year, DeRozan appeared in rapper Kendrick Lamar’s hit single Not Like Us, a video showing solidarity with the Compton rapper in his rap beef with Drake.

Drake and DeRozan have known each other since the NBA players’ days with the Toronto Raptors, to whom the rapper is a global ambassador.

Raptors was also the team that made DeRozan one of the highest-paid athletes in the NBA.

His 2016 deal with the Raptors was historic. It was the league’s second-largest contract in history at the time.

A ninth overall pick in the 2009 draft, DeRozan has lived up to the expectations.

In the past off-season, the 35-year-old got a bigger contract than Klay Thompson.

Despite having gelled well with Kings’ star players Sabonis and Fox, the trio has been unable to give Western Conference big guns any trouble.

If the team fails to make the playoffs, it’s for sure that the first question mark might be put on the veteran NBA player and his contract.

DeMar DeRozan’s NBA Contracts Has Shot Up His Wealth To The Eight Figures

DeMar DeRozan has accumulated his eight-figure net worth mostly through his NBA contracts.

In his rookie year with the Raptors in 2009, DeRozan signed a four-year $10.7 million deal.

At the time, DeRozan earned an average annual salary of $2.6 million, a measly sum for the athlete nowadays.

He extended his stay in Toronto after putting pen to paper on a four-year $38 million contract in 2013.

But even before that deal could expire, Raptors offered DeRozan an offer he couldn’t refuse.

In 2016, the Raptors went all in and signed DeRozan to a $139 million four-year deal.

At the time, it was the second-largest deal in NBA history, breaking Kobe’s seven-year $136.4 million contract with the Lakers that commenced in 2004.

Two seasons after signing that deal, DeRozan was traded to the San Antonio Spurs for Kawhi Leonard, who won a historic NBA title with the Raptors.

After spending three seasons with the Spurs, DeRozan was traded to the Bulls.

The Californian native signed a three-year $85 million contract with the Bulls, including an average salary of $27 million.

In 2024, DeRozan signed with the Sacramento Kings for a three-year, $73.8 million.

DeMar DeRozan’s Brand Deals Help Him Raise His Net Worth, But He Also Has A Charitable Side

Brand deals and signature shoes are significant to an athlete’s career, especially in the NBA.

In 2022, DeRozan signed a four-year deal with Nike to remain the face of the brand’s Kobe Bryant signature line.

Previously, in a video with Complex Sneakers, DeRozan claimed that nobody in the league has more Kobes than him.

DeRozan has become the brand’s leading face since Kobe retired in 2016.

After Kobe’s passing, Nike and the Bryant family could not reach a deal for over a year.

But when they did, the first player to get re-signed was DeRozan.

Along with Nike, DeRozan has endorsed other brands in the past, including Spalding, Gatorade, and Klipsch.

The former Bulls player has been a long-time advocate of mental health and supporting youth in Chicago.

In April 2024, the NBA honored the small forward with the NBA Cares Bob Lanier Community Assist Award.

Alongside presenting DeRozan with the David Robinson trophy, the NBA donated $10,000 to Coffee, Hip-Hop, and Mental Health, a mental health advocacy group in Chicago.

From February to March, DeRozan released Dinners with DeMar series on his YouTube channel.

He invited former and current NBA stars, including Dwyane Wade, Draymond Green, and Damian Lillard, to have an impactful conversation focusing on mental health.

In 2020, DeRozan donated $20,000 to COVID-19 relief, matching his former Raptors teammate Serge Ibaka’s donation on Instagram Live.

  • In 2021, after his move to Chicago, DeRozan purchased a $4.5 million house from Michael Jordan’s ex-wife.
