Early Life, Family & Education
Theo was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, to parents Barbara Pinson and Theo Pinson on November 5, 1995.

High School Career
Theo went to Wesleyan Christian Academy, where he played basketball & was named McDonald All-American as a senior.

College Career
Theo spent four years at the University of North Carolina from 2014 to 2018.
In his freshman year, after breaking the fifth metatarsal bone, Pinson missed 14 games of his rookie season. Yet, he was fourth on the team (tops off the bench) in assists and rebounds at the time of his injury in January 2014.
He fully recovered from his injuries during his sophomore season.
Upon recovery, as a nonstarter, Pinson scored 100 assists in 2015, the second-most in the college’s franchise since Quentin Thomas with 113 assists in 2008.
But again, in his junior year, he could not play in 16 games due to the same injury in his right foot. He still managed to average 6.1 points, 4.6 rebounds & 3.7 assists per game.
As a senior, Pinson scored seven double-doubles and averaged 10.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists in 29.7 minutes per game.
He led his college team to the 2017 NCAA Championship title, defeating Gonzaga Bulldogs.
One of the reasons the Tar Heels made it to the National Championship was Theo’s outstanding leadership, defense, and passing abilities.

Professional Career
Brooklyn Nets
After going undrafted in the 2018 NBA draft, Pinson’s way to the NBA came through the Summer League, where he played for the Nets, after signing a training camp contract on August 6, 2018.
Theo averaged 11.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists from his five summer league games.
After signing a two-way deal with the Brooklyn Nets, his NBA regular season debut came on October 20, 2018, in a 132-112 loss to the Indiana Pacers.
Nearing the end of his rookie season, he signed a Rest-of-Season deal with the Nets in April 2019.
On July 8, 2019, Theo signed a one-year contract with the Nets & played in the 2019-20 season. Due to a teammate’s injury, he was allowed to play for more extended periods that season.
