Bowie attended Pisgah High School and competed in track since high school. She was a prominent figure in the long jump, but later, in 2014, she transferred to sprinting.

Bowie also played basketball on the state team. She was good in every sport she played and was a prodigy. Because of her extraordinary skills and talent, Bowie was honored with an athletic scholarship at the University of Southern Mississippi. 

She played the long jump during her college days at the University of Southern Mississippi and was NCAA ALL-American five times in the long jump and 100m dash.

Bowie had a fantastic year professionally in 2016. She won three medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics and a gold medal in the 4*100 m relay. She also won silver in 100m and 200 m.
