Tristan Wirfs, an American professional football offensive tackle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has a son, Julius Patrick Wirfs, with his girlfriend, Meredith Sutton.

Tristan began playing football at Mount Vernon High School and committed to Iowa State in the winter of his junior year in December 2015. The Des Moines Register honored him as the best boys prep athlete in the state.

Sadly, the offensive tackle is expected to miss the start of the 2025 regular season because of a right knee injury.
He will likely start the season on the physically unable to perform list and will miss at least Tampa Bay’s first four games.

Tristan Wirfs received a career-defining honor in January 2025 when he was named to the Associated Press First Team All-Pro, making history as the first NFL player ever to earn at both right and left tackle.
But the way he found out made the achievement even sweeter.
During a sit-down interview with AP senior writer Rob Maaddi at the Bucs’ facility, Meredith Sutton, walked in holding their nine-month-old son, Julius, who was wearing a tiny shirt that read, “My Daddy is an All-Pro.”
Tristan was surprised, and his face lit up with disbelief.
‘What do you think, Bub?’ That’s awesome. … That’s crazy. You surprised me. I was just telling [Meredith] about it the other night, like last night, I was like, ‘No one’s ever done it before.’ I was like, ‘I’m trying!

After dominating as the right tackle from 2020-2022, he faced uncertainty when asked to switch to left tackle in 2023 to replace Donovan Smith in 2023.
The transition brought unexpected mental hurdles, including debilitating anxiety, prompting him to seek help from team psychologist Dr. Joseph Carella.
It seems like so minuscule, like oh, you’re just flipping sides, but I was like having breakdowns about it. I was in a really rough spot mentally. I was really nervous.

I was playing out the season in my head over and over again like, ‘Oh, what if it goes this way or what if it goes this way?’ So, I was like, ‘It is freaking May. You have to calm down.’
Beyond the field, Tristan has also made an impact. In December 2024, he represented Muma Children’s Hospital at TGH for the NFL’s #MyCauseMyCleats campaign.
He matched donations up to $25,000 for the TGH Foundation’s #OperationSanta initiative, supporting the Child Life Activity Center.
