This article was last updated by on

The American professional football player Tyler Huntley’s father, Ricky Huntley, always wanted the best for his kids, which showed in his efforts to help his son get his spot in the country’s biggest football league, NFL.

Two of Ricky’s three sons wished to play in the league, but only his youngest son, Tyler, could make it.

After failing to get picked in the 2020 NFL Draft, Tyler was kind of confused about what his next step will be. Fortunately, Baltimore Ravens let him on their team, and the quarterback from Florida delivered.

Huntley has been playing for the Ravens as their quarterback for the past few years.

In March 2022, however, the Ravens placed an exclusive-rights free agent tender on Tyler.

About Tyler Huntley

Tyler Isaiah Huntley, better known as Tyler Huntley or Ty, is an American professional football player who plays as a quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL.

Growing up in Florida, Tyler attended Hallandale High School and played football there until his graduation in 2015.

Although he struggled to win the confidence of his coach in the initial seasons, Ty later made tremendous improvements.

He became the Florida Gatorade Football Player of the Year in his senior season.

In 2016, he joined the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and played college football for the Utah Utes Football for four seasons.

Huntley began his NFL journey as an undrafted free agent in 2020 after failing to get picked in that year’s draft. He played only two matches in his rookie season.

Tyler has recorded three touchdowns and four interceptions in nine NFL matches as of this writing. So far, he has not played any matches for the Ravens in the 2022 season.

Tyler Huntley’s Relationship With His Dad

Just as every father-son relationship is unique, Tyler Huntley’s bond with his dad, Ricky, is no less extraordinary.

His dad presented him with a football while he was just three years old, after which he never stopped dreaming of becoming a footballer.

Although he had two big brothers to play with, he always preferred playing games with his dad.

Even now, he and his dad take no time to come out to throw the ball around whenever Tyler returns home during vacations.

During his high school years, Tyler was skinny and was deemed inappropriate for playing as a quarterback, for his height was below 1.83 meters.

His parents, especially his dad, did everything to persuade coaches to let their kid play in the QB position for Hallandale School.

However, Tyler was mainly a pocket passer in high school.

Similarly, when Tyler failed to get picked in the draft, his dad was the one who lifted his spirit, telling him he could do it if he tried harder, and consequently, his dad was right as the Ravens offered him a spot.

Ricky and his wife have also told his son to stay away from social media as much as possible and focus more on bettering his game rather than being sad over the unfair criticisms he sometimes might face.
