In May 2024, Corey revealed through a heartfelt Facebook post that he had been battling renal kidney failure and had undergone two open-heart surgeries.

He shared his journey with transparency, stating,

“‘I am currently undergoing treatment for Renal Kidney Failure as well as underwent two open-heart surgeries and have been privately dealing with it for the last two years. I’m sharing this now because I want to be an advocate for all those who are experiencing similar challenges, and come together for a greater purpose – our health.”

His willingness to discuss his health struggles was aimed at encouraging others facing similar challenges to seek help and support.

In January 2024, he posted a photo from the ICU expressing gratitude for the prayers and well wishes he received.

He also took the opportunity to raise awareness about lupus during Lupus Awareness Month, sharing information about its symptoms and treatment options.

Despite his health challenges, Corey remained optimistic and focused on uplifting others.

His godfather, Ward Mustian, expressed profound sadness at Corey’s passing, stating that he died during heart surgery.

Mustian described Corey as someone who adopted him as a father figure over the past twelve years.

Corey’s mother, Charlene Jefferson, shared a touching childhood photo of him with a message that read:
