An 18-year-old aspiring softball player, Gianna Lopez, took her last breath in a tragic car accident on March 30, 2025.

Reportedly, the precise details of her unexpected passing remain unknown.

It was her mother, Eliana, who announced the heartbreaking news through a fundraiser launched to support the family during this devastating time.

She described Gianna as an “angel” now in God’s care. “This loss is unimaginable, and our hearts are broken beyond words,” Eliana wrote.

The fundraiser, organized by Nyla Lopez, aims to alleviate the unexpected financial burden of funeral and memorial arrangements. Eliana wrote:

We want to give Gianna the memorial she truly deserves to say goodbye and celebrate the beautiful life she lived.

The family has expressed gratitude for any contribution, no matter the size, as well as for prayers and the sharing of their campaign.

This young girl was my daughter’s closest friend. I humbly request your help in bringing her body back to Vancouver. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
