Early Life
Victoria Azárenka was born on July 31, 1989, in Minsk, Soviet Union, to her father, Fedor Azarenka, and mother, Alla Azarenka.
She grew up with her only sibling, Max Azarenka. Nevertheless, there is no information regarding his whereabouts.
Victoria always had a fascination for tennis. As a child, she idolized the German professional tennis player Steffi Graf.
This led her to pursue it as a career. Her real tennis persuasion came at age 15 when she moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, from Minsk to train.
After moving to Scottsdale, Nikolai Khabibulin, an NHL goalie, and his wife, Victoria Khabibulin, helped young Victoria with her training.
Career
On November 2003, Victoria debuted on the ITF Junior Circuit in Israel, winning one doubles title with Olga Govortsova.
Two years after turning pro, in 2005, she clinched two junior Grand Slam titles.
The same year ITF named her the 2005 World Champion making her the first Belarusian to do so.
She was seeded 26th at the 2008 Australian Open. It went well for the first two matches, but in the third, she lost to the defending champion Serena Williams.
However, she won the title in 2012 and 2013, becoming the first Belarusian player to win a Grand Slam tournament singles title.
