Timothy McKay was placed on the active/non-football injury list by the Commanders on Saturday.
Tim McKay is an offensive tackle for the Washington Commanders, bringing both athletic talent and academic excellence from his collegiate career at NC State.
A Raleigh, North Carolina, native and Wakefield High School graduate, McKay joined NC State as the first commit of the 2019 class, enrolling at just 16 years old.
Over the years, he developed into a key figure on the Wolfpack’s offensive Line, starting both guard and tackle positions.
He led the team in pancake blocks and earned elite performance grades in multiple games, including standout showings against Notre Dame, UNC, and VMI.
A semifinalist for the prestigious Campbell Trophy in both 2022 and 2023, McKay also excelled academically, earning multiple Academic All-ACC honors and graduating with a degree in business administration in December 2022.
The Washington Commanders Have Placed Timothy McKay On The Non-Football Injury List
As per NFL.com, the Washington Commanders placed rookie OL Timothy McKay on the non-football injury list.
On Saturday, July 19, 2025, the Washington Commanders took to their official Twitter handle and wrote,
The following player is declared non-football injury: T Timothy McKay
Washington Commanders
He went undrafted out of North Carolina State and caught on with the Commanders following the draft.
Moreover, Washington paid him $275,000 in guaranteed money despite his injury, which ultimately led to him going undrafted. It was one of the highest UDFA deals on the roster.
Before an unfortunate torn pectoral muscle at NC State’s pro day before the draft, he was a projected mid-round pick.
In six seasons at NC State, McKay appeared in 56 games for the team.
He will now be sidelined to open camp with an undisclosed injury, but he can return to practice and play at any point during the preseason.
Social media users have sent prayers to Tim for a speedy recovery. One fan wrote,
